The movie opens with an interview. Stan (Steven St. Croix) and Marge (India Summer), discuss their marriage and porn careers with a documentary filmmaker who is following their college educated daughter Casey (Casey Calvert). She is set to do her first porn shoot unbeknown to her parents who do not want her in the business.
This film offers some history with the mention of Jaime Gillis and the 1980s, the era of the VCR and white nose powder all around. When Stan and Marge move into the film’s first sex scene, there’s a tribute to Marilyn Chambers in “Insatiable II” (1984). Marge drops her head over the bedside to orally satisfy Stan in a salute to the classic Chambers/Gillis scene.
When Casey arrives for her first shoot in a garage studio (the American dream often starts in a garage), a hilarious 1980s’ throwback occurs. A dude named “Dynomite” bops in wearing a tacky two piece outfit that thankfully is locked into pop culture’s disco past. Richie Calhoun is the uncredited cameo and tries vainly to produce wood for his scene with Casey. It’s hopeless, of course, because he’s really the late John Holmes, cokehead extraordinaire, on whom Marilyn Chambers wasted her oral efforts in Up and Coming (1983).
When Casey’s identity is accidentally revealed, director Jean Kreem (Scott Lyons) is ready to drop her like an overheated halogen lamp. To save her budding career, Casey plays casting couch and sucks him off. Jean’s eyes are wild, recalling 1980s filmmaker Rinse Dream whose kinky talent is porn famous.
The garage has a green screen, the backdrop for Casey’s friend Franny’s (Aiden Ashley) brief interlude with porn newcomer, Keisha Grey. Franny and Casey had a previous impromptu scene for the documentary director with lots of oral, finger banging, and a scissors wrap-up. Casey’s sensuality oozes through a “do me” frown, her erotic trademark. Drawing back like a panther on the prowl, she feasts on Aiden with a nastiness that redefines salacious. With hair sneaking back into filming, fans of totally shaved girls will appreciate this encounter.
When the scene is finished, Casey crawls toward the camera which remains focused on her chest and neck. Muffled slurping is heard, recalling porn “debutante” Traci Lord’s rep for doing everyone on the set.
B Skow sometimes shoots in gonzo mode with over the shoulder POV. Franny’s tongue on Keisha’s crotch and Casey’s splashy facial later with Kurt Lockwood are sensational.
In the garage, the camera moves about in John Stagliano’s Buttman style. The sex is hastily set up among the clutter in a seemingly off-the-cuff production. In truth, the film is a carefully crafted tribute the new century, gonzo implanted in a feature.
The later three-way between Stan, Marge, and Casey’s friend Zooey (Lily LaBeau) proves that Skow’s sex scenes are rich and diverse. During Zooey’s oral work on Stan, cameras drift around the action adding moments of delightful confusion. At one point, Stan holds the camera shooting Zooey’s stuffed mouth and a cameraman’s foot is spotted momentarily.
This is porn reality. Things and people get in the way inadvertently and because of limited budgets, retakes are few and editing doesn’t cover it all.
The threesome heats up when Stan doggies Marge, Marge munches Zooey as she kisses Stan. Later when Zooey moves to the floor, a cameraman hands Marge the strap-on to keep the action going!
Her shoot dumped, a disappointed Casey returns home to find her parents are out. Unexpectedly her agent calls with an immediate booking. Excited, Casey returns to the garage to be greeted by Marge and Stan and their good friend Kurt Lockwood, Casey’s old babysitter who refused to do her earlier for the camera.
Like parents supporting their child’s first game, play, or party, Marge and Stan are there to videotape the start of Casey’s career. In her scene with Kurt, pay close attention to a standing sixty-nine, gonzo acrobatics not to be missed.
Stan later interrupts the action for the stills, a standard operating procedure in porn. In a reverse anal cowgirl, Casey seduces the camera as he clicks away.
“She’s going to have a great career,” Kurt says.
In a porn movie about making a porn movie with an embedded documentary film that drives the story, who are the proud parents? You decide, but don’t jump to conclusions. There’s a twist at the end.
