Having written in the business for a few years, I’m facing a reality I knew was coming but nonetheless stirs feelings of loss. Most porn careers are short and retirements inevitable. Understandably, some girls want nothing to do with the business when they are finished. A porn career can raise eyebrows. Starting anew is not easy.
So, retirements often come out of the blue for me because losing track of people is a constant problem. When I contacted Tara Lynn Foxx recently, she said she has happily joined the ranks of those who have closed the industry door behind them.
I remember the first time we met. Back in 2010 at Kink.com in San Francisco, Peter Acworth’s secretary offered to round up a couple of girls for me to interview. One of them was an adorable blonde who still had a wee bit of teenage body fat. Though barely twenty, TLF, as she was known among friends, rolled through the interview with confidence and self-assurance. It was certain to me that Tara would become a true star. Several interviews and a few years later, I can attest I was correct.
Now Tara tells me she’s “changed paths” and a bit checking reveals that this Northern California native and the culinary arts are on track to become a business combo that will, knowing her determination, spark success. Though her blog is still up, its days are apparently numbered. TLF’s final dancing gigs were in Chicago and New York this summer. She is no longer on the OC Models webpage.
Her fans will have seen she’s moved on.
Tara’s time in porn was not always positive (something many performers experience) because we talked about that. But TLF is a survivor. The last time I saw her, she was signing in Vegas and I remember commenting to her how she had grown into a beautiful young woman, hotter and sexier than ever.
Incidentally, Tara was helpful to me in writing my book on the industry. Her insights, honesty, and personal experiences were important in telling the story of feminism in adult film. Needless to say, I am forever grateful and would love to write her bio someday.
We all know that girls often make comebacks because shooting scenes tends to get in the blood and fan accolades are hard to put away. Nadia Styles is the most recent example. My wish for TLF is that her life goes in the directions she chooses and her rewards are bountiful. But, should she decide to return to adult entertainment, I will welcome her with smiles all around.
But for now, good-bye Tara Lynn Foxx. Be assured that your fans will not forget you!
