No On B Raffle

Adult Wiki Media is currently holding a raffle to generate advertising dollars to be used in a public awareness campaign against Measure B with the hope of convincing Los Angeles County voters to tell their government its time and resources are better spent elsewhere. The prizes will be Fleshlights autographed by some of the Adult Industry’s top stars. Asa Akira, Kayden Kross, and Kelly Shibari have agreed to autograph Fleshlights to offer as prizes.

The raffle will be open to anyone that purchases a Vote No On Measure B t-shirt or makes a donation of $5.00 or more. It will be one raffle entry for every $5.00, so a $20.00 t-shirt purchase will net you 4 entries. We understand that discretion may be important to some contributors, so we will be using the PayPal transaction numbers instead of names when drawing and announcing the winners. The drawing will be held on November 4, 2012. The first name drawn will get first choice of Fleshlight, and so on for the 3 winners.

The proceeds will further our advertising campaign against Measure B. Our offensive started with Car Advertisements Tee Shorts and Flyers. We have since expanded to Yard Signs and Blockwalking. In the final weeks leading up to the vote, we need to add more weapons to our arsenal. We need to make the citizens of Los Angeles County aware of the impact Measure B will have on their economy and the distribution of their county’s resources, along with the impact it will have on the Adult Industry. To accomplish this we also need support from the Adult Industry and its fans.

Measure B, misleadingly titled the “Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act,” is a law that would mandate condom use on all porn sets, and permit the government to enter private property without a warrant to inspect the genitals of consenting adults. The measure disregards the fact that the Adult Industry has the most comprehensive and advanced STI testing program on the planet and tries to paint condoms as a “magic pill” in the prevention of STIs. Proponents of the act claim that it is a “workplace safety issue,” completely ignoring the performer’s ability to decide what they deem safe to participate in.

Proponents of Measure B are also uninterested in the potential economic impact of the law. As James Lee, spokesman for the No on Government Waste Committee, points out, “The real impact is going to be felt in the flight of companies and jobs that leave this area because of this measure and the resulting losses in tax revenue and economic activity. I think people will understand that in a county with 12 percent unemployment, shipping off 10,000 jobs is not a great move for the economy.” Mr. Lee also notes that, if passed, the enforcement of Measure B would cost the county in excess of $300,000 in yearly administration costs, including salary and benefits for county inspectors. Because the number of permitted shoots in LA County is likely to drop off because of this measure, the program could start losing money from its launch.

“The people of Los Angeles County can think of a lot better uses for the time of first responders, county health inspectors and other government personnel than hanging around an adult film shoot checking for condom usage,” said James Lee

It is our position that LA County can find far better uses for the time of first responders and health inspectors, and that taxpayers’ money would be better spent elsewhere.
