BadGirlzRule is a group of women (straight, bisexual and gay) who are both in front of and behind the camera in adult movies and their first effort, Gonza: Wanna be a Porn Star? Has just been nominated for Best Sex Comedy by Adult Video News (the “Academy Awards” of the adult industry).
“We’re stoked to be in such heavy competition!” says Alpha, whose own company Passion Fruit Video helped produce the movie, “it’s a huge honor to all the hard work and creative juices everyone brought to this movie! Pun intended.”
The hilarious script by Ambrosio, Maitresse Elise, Alpha and Piper is a send-up of everything about adult movies, including protesters, wanna-be porn stars, biased media, and even adds some new and goofy twists on time-worn old plots– with very funny and aggressively sexy consequences. The movie has been receiving rave reviews for the quality comedic acting, natural bodied stars and very hot, authentic sex with real orgasms from everyone. AVN’s own review said… “One of the most daring pornographic features ever made… put the remote control down, because for the first time in a long time, what you’re watching between the sex scenes is as good as the sex itself!”
“There’s been a prevailing belief in much of the industry that plot, acting, real breasts and real sex don’t really matter, which is why a lot of the movies look the way they do,” says Cherry, one of the co-founders of BadGirlzRule, “But we found a lot of men and women want to see something different from that, they’re looking for something more like the ’80’s porn with interesting plots and acting , passionate sex and girls who are naturally beautiful. We didn’t want to make one of those ‘soft-focus’ ‘couples’ movies — we wanted some very hot and genuinely passionate sex in this — with a plot that would engage everyone — male or female.”
Using real -life attractive couples helped. ” We all hate to see that bored formula so many porn movies use, where you can see the players somewhere else in their minds while they go through the motions”, laughs Alpha, “Working with couples who knew how to make each other really scream paid off — the chemistry and orgasms are for real. It was a little like filming a football game, though… they were all over the place, getting down and dirty!”
It was also revolutionary to have women behind the cameras and doing the editing on Gonza. Piper, who was one of the film crew and edited the feature laughs, “Art definitely imitated life on this — we had camera break-downs, lighting people not show up, computer glitches and everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong. But we pulled it off. We’re proof that talent can get recognized in this industry.”
The BadGirlzRule crew worked well with Passion Fruit, whose motto has been to have fun while making adult movies. “It was hard to keep from cracking up all the time,” Alpha says, “We want to keep the making of adult movies fun and playful, not serious.” What do they think about being the little David of companies up against the Goliath’s of the industry? “We think our chutzpah and talent have gotten us this far,” says Cherry, “and this movie had a lot of people believing in what we are doing. Being little and independent gives us a lot of freedom to be creative.”
