(BURBANK, CA) — After waking up to a somewhat negative news story out of Hollywood, Florida this morning, KSEXradio Host Wankus, was inspired to respond in his own way.
If you saw the news story this morning in the Sun Sentinal of Florida, you’ll know residents are upset about a “Porn” convention in their area.
Check out the story by following the Sun Sentinal link below.
“A friend of mine e-mailed a story to me, and although it doesn’t bash the Internext Expo, it does have that typical media slant, directed to get conservative locals fired up,” Wankus stated. The news story in question was written by a staff writer named Georgia East, and with contribution from Vicky Agnew of the Sun Sentinel – a southern Florida publication in print, and on the web.
You can find the piece at the Url below. In it the writer gives an accurate definition of the expo put on by AVN.com but it also quotes city officials and residents who are a little bothered that porn has come to their town.
One man said, “I’m not a prude, I know porn is out there. But why do we have to bring it to Hollywood?” These comments sparked Wankus to get to the bottom of the situation. Was he flying into a fun weekend of business and adult press coverage, or was he going to have to fight through the picket lines?
Wankus went on to say, “I’ve been so excited about this trip. I wasn’t going to let this get me down – although I was going to get to the bottom of it!” So Wankus, as only he can, convinced the City of Hollywood, Florida, Mayor, Mara Giulianti to join him and Heather Lyn on his sex Talk Radio Show on KSEXradio.com.
During the interview Wankus, while on his best behavior, asked key questions about the local community and the Mayor’s opinion on the presence of the adult industry this coming weekend. “It’s not as bad as you media types hyped it,” responded Giulianti, “I think like every community, we have those people who would like to see things censored or like to have things go their way. We have ’em here, you have them out there.” in regards to picketing protestors and community outlash, Giulianti responded that there are always a few people that look for attention with any event that is questionable in town, including ballet productions that feature partial nudity as well as art exhibits that perhaps show a more violent side, or alternative look at life. “But those people are predictable,” remarked Giulianti, “And these are the types who are usually just looking for their own name in the paper.”
Overall, the interview went fantastic. Giulianti claimed to be supportive of all conventions that come to town, because these ‘corporate-tourists’, so to speak, bring money and attention to the community. A blast in revenue is always a plus for tourist towns that see their business checking accounts rise and fall like a Six Flags Roller Coaster.
She did admit that she had family staying at the Westin Diplomat Hotel (where the Expo is being held), and she’s pleased her sister and brother-in-law will not be staying there during the convention. Not necessarily because of the clientele they will be mixing with, but “When someone is in an elective office and runs as I do, one generally does not want rumors about one’s family.”
Giulianti also pledged strong support from the police, who will be working overtime and with extra forces, but she did say these words directed at the local community: “There are some people that think Hollywood, Florida, is going to be involved in an orgy, and I think anybody who’s expecting this, or is expecting sparks to fly, is going to be very disappointed.”
