(VAN NUYS, CA) — Digital Playground earned 8 awards at the 2001 Empire Awards, including Best DVD Studio . Island Fever, directed by Joone and starring Tera Patrick, pulled in three of the awards, Best Video Quality, Best All sex DVD and the money award, Best Selling DVD .
Forbidden Tales, which was also directed by Joone and starred Tera Patrick, was responsible for three additional nods, Best Menu Design , Best Feature and the consumer driven award, Viewers Choice . Digital Playground’s signature line, Virtual sex, which was created and directed by Joone, brought in the award for Best Interactive DVD, with the installment starring their sexy new contract star, Virtual sex with Devon.
Adult DVD Empire, a leading DVD E-tailer, produces the Empire Award Show. Titles are nominated and voted on by a panel of critics comprised by Empire staff and other aficionados of adult entertainment, explains site publicist, JT Smith in a post show interview with UPN. The Viewers Choice Award follows a different process. This is selected by consumers, they vote on our website and we accept one vote from each unique email address and identity.
Digital Playground President, Samantha Lewis is blown away. We worked really hard this year to put out the best titles we could and it paid off. I’m still in shock, we’ve never swept an award show before. It feels really good. I’d like to thank Adult DVD Empire for producing the show and everyone who participated in the voting process. Digital Playground’s awarded titles, Island Fever, Forbidden Tales and Virtual sex with Devon were all directed by Joone and starred one of Digital Playground’s exclusive contract stars, Tera Patrick or Devon. Digital Playground, Island Fever and Virtual sex with Devon received kudos in similar categories at the AVN Award show earlier this year. AVN named Island Fever Best Renting Tape of 2001 ; Virtual sex with Devon received the award for Best Interactive DVD and Digital Playground earned Best Company Image .
