(ATLANTA, GA) — Calling himself not the "Monster everybody’s tried to make me out to be", Mafia torturer, John Givens was back on the stand Tuesday. Givens wanted to make it clear to the judge that the tortures he had been involved in were just "business".
Given also helped strengthen the prosecution’s case by saying he had witnessed Gold Club owner give John Gotti enveloped stuffed with U.S. currency for Mafia protection. On Wednesday, John DiGiorgio, a nephew of John Gotti, was called to the stand for the prosecution. Although his testimony was vague and reluctant, he did testify that Steven Kaplan and his father George Kaplan ran a loan sharking operation in South Florida.
DiGiorgio said the whole idea for the loan sharking business came from Kaplan’s father, now deceased. DiGiorgio, who is currently serving time for obstruction of justice is testifying in hopes of an early release from Federal Prison in Ft. Lauderdale. Upcoming by the end of the week, testimony of the sexual favors to celebrities and professional athletes, arranged by Kaplan occurring in the Gold Club’s private VIP rooms.
