(ATLANTA, GA) — Monday marks the beginning of week two in the Steven Kaplan/Gold Club trail in Federal Court in Atlanta. As expected, the daily happenings in court and out are lead stories in the Atlanta newspapers, the local noon, five, six and eleven o’clock newscasts. One local news editor has mentioned on more than one occasion that the public can’t get enough of this trial, and having the beginning of it fall in sweeps month isn’t all bad either.

While Atlanta is ground zero of the trial major media markets like New York and Los Angeles have reporters coming in and out of town to cover portions that might appeal to their geographic region. Mob ties, convicted hitmen, sports stars and celebrities receiving sexual favors in exchange for appearing at the club have drawn interest from coast to coast. International news agencies have even produced front-page stories when in opening statements King Carl Gustaf of Sweden was mentioned as spending an evening in a private VIP room, a charge his people have since denied.

American tabloids are said to be on alert for the first sign a major movie star or sports star will be on the stand to testify. In short, the public will have its thirst for details in this case quenched by a variety of sources. Stay Tuned!
