(MILWAUKEE, IL) — A Milwaukee County forensics investigator was dismissed from her position at the Medical Examiner’s Office Tuesday for photographing the genitals of a deceased co-worker.

The Milwaukee County Personnel Review Board fired Patricia Martin for photographing the genitals of a former co-worker who was brought to the morgue for an autopsy.

Martin told the board that the photograph was taken accidentally when a co-worker bumped her during the examination, then was taken out of context and used against her.

"I felt I was being set up for disciplinary action and being retaliated against because of the complaint I filed about the discriminatory tie policy," she said.

Martin gained national notoriety when she challenged the Medical Examiner’s dress code that required women to wear neckties.

Hearings over the necktie issue will continue in October despite Martin’s dismissal.

Also, the family of the man who was photographed has filed a complaint with the medical examiner’s office and the county. Lawsuits are pending in that case.
