(CHATSWORTH, CA) — If you’ve ever dreamed of participating in the most profitable segment of the Internet, you will want to take in IA 2000, the world’s largest adult Internet/Audiotext trade show. A record number of companies have pre-registered to participate in the show, which will take place in New Orleans September 22-24. A major discussion topic is likely to be the on-going battle with American Express (NYXE: AXP), which has announced it will no longer do business with companies selling adult content.

“IA 2000 is the only truly practical adult Internet business-to-business marketplace. It is where dot-coms, technology firms, Web hosts and service providers, charge card processors and just about any company will go to form relationships with adult sites that generate millions and millions of visits daily,” says Renee Johnson, Show Manager for IA 2000. “The interest in IA 2000 is very high because adult is by far the most consistently profitable area of the Internet and there are limitless opportunities for B2B alliances.” She expects attendance to exceed the record set at the IA 2000 convention in Las Vegas earlier this year, which drew 4,000 attendees and over 200 exhibitors.

“You can learn everything you need from industry leaders about how to create and operate an adult Website,” says Ms. Johnson. IA 2000 is affiliated with AVN OnLine, the definitive trade magazine for adult Internet commerce and Adult Video News, the premiere trade journal for the adult video industry. Seminars will cover legal issues affecting X-rated entrepreneurs, copyright protection and how to take advantage of cutting edge technology tools. Credit card questions-particularly in view of the recent American Express decision not to process charges for adult businesses-will be addressed and we expect creative solutions to emerge on this issue.“

According to Forrester Research, “cyberporn sales, including videos and accessories ordered online,” accounted for $1.44 billion in 1998. Another estimate by DataMonitor says this number will grow to $3.0 billion by 2003.

Ms. Johnson says that one effect of these numbers is that dozens of mainstream technology companies have signed up to exhibit at IA 2000, which will take place in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in the heart of New Orleans.

“Although this is a convention based on erotic content, it is a serious business for those attending,” says Ms. Johnson. “Even so, after visiting the exhibits and attending the seminars, attendees will get to network at the industry’s most extravagant receptions and dinners, held in exciting restaurants, hotels and other venues throughout New Orleans, which is, after all, America’s party city.”

Cost to attend the seminars and exposition is $275, discounted to $250 for registration by June 15th. Further information and pre-registration is available at www.ia2000.com or by fax at 818.718.5795. AVN OnLine magazine can be ordered by calling 818-718-5788.
