(LONDON) — American actress Kathleen Turner and her nude scene have been such a hit in a London stage production of ”The Graduate” that the play’s run has been extended for six weeks.
Turner’s portrayal of “Mrs. Robinson,” the icy-hearted older woman played by Anne Bancroft in the 1967 film, has divided British critics but brought cheering audiences to their feet at the Gielgud Theater.
Theatergoers now have until July 29 to see what the fuss is all about.
In the play’s highlight, Turner, 45, drops her towel to bare all for a few seconds in the famous seduction scene that saw Bancroft tantalize Dustin Hoffman with just a flash of stocking-clad leg.
“Women my age aren’t allowed to be sexy and I think that’s nonsense,” Turner said last month. “I’m really loving my character Mrs. Robinson. Each day she gets more interesting.”
Playwright Terry Johnson’s adaptation of the Charles Webb novel has been a sell out since the opening night on April 5 and media reports have said it may also go on a world tour.
