This week on RNSU live in the studio, long time Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman joins Industrial metal pioneer band Ministry and no your not coming down off a bad LSD trip its factual information, to be fair Monte Pittman was around long before he hooked up with Pop Queen Madonna after meeting her at a local Guitar Center and giving her guitar lessons then going on the road with her for 5 world tours and counting. Pittman’s first known band was called Insanity formed with Chris Sheehan which became Myra Mains based out of Texas, Then in 2000 there was his stint with metal behemoth Prong, he played guitar on several of their live albums including, 100% Live, Scorpio Rising and on Prong’s 2007 release Power of the Damager he wrote 5 of 13 songs.
In between all this Pittman has cultivated a successful solo career of his own releasing a succession of 6 albums, The Deepest Dark (2009), Pain, Love & Destiny (2011), The Power of Three(2014) Inverted Grasp of Balance (2016) featuring legendary Mr Big bassist Billy Sheehan, Between the Space (2018) accompanying Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach on tour, and lastly Better or Worse (2018) on Metal Blade records.
Then in June of 2021 Industrial metal pioneers Ministry headed by mastermind Al Jourgenson announced a new fall tour lineup it’s newest member Monte Pittman replacing Sid Quirin who parted ways on the back of allegation’s of sexual relations with under age girls surfacing that year, Pittman has previously played for Ministry during the 2015 tour. So is this a permanent move for Pittman?
