(VAN NUYS, CA) — What a fantastic Christmas present for Tom Byron: another big-time award to hang on his mantle…right next to his holiday stockings (which we’re sure are fishnets of ex-girlfriends!). Lord Byron will be the King among many Queens on Friday, January 9th, 2009, when he is inducted into the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame.
This is the first year that only one man will be honored, and Tom will accept this big accolade along with Shane, Sunset Thomas, and Stephanie Swift. In addition, the star-studded evening will also include a tribute to the legendary adult director, Gerard Damiano. This is the 16th Annual Hall of Fame event and organizers are calling the award winners ‘the Historical Handful.’ the HoF induction ceremony will take place at Showgirl Video in Las Vegas, at 8pm.
Tom is being recognized for his years in the business: His accomplishments, numerous peer and industry awards, impact and influence. He’s the innovator in charge of Tom Byron Pictures and the man behind a number of top-selling adult DVDs (including classics like Private Teacher, the Woman in Pink, Whack Attack and Texas Asshole Massacre, and recent lines like Seasoned Players, House of Ass, Asseaters Unanimous and Lord of Asses). Tom is the star of 2100+ movies, has been named to the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. Tom’s movies are distributed by Evolution Distribution.
Says the sometimes modest ”King of Coochie” (this new line, starring December 2008 Penthouse Pet, Tori Black,will premiere at AEE): ”It’s nice to be recognized and I really appreciate the honor. But, hell, I do porn for pussy, not trophies. Who knew you could get enshrined as a legend simply for getting laid? I’d better sell more movies cuz of this fuckin’ Hall of Fame induction!” As for all his fellow inductees, Tom adds, ”The girls, yeah I did ‘em. I was in the original Shane’s World, a three-day drunken binge in the desert in Glamis, CA. Good times. Stephanie Swift’s also in the award-nominated Seasoned Players 6.”
Bill Margold (who, along with Arrow’s Ray Pistol, created Legends of Erotica 15 years ago) says: ”Though he’ll always be ‘The Kid” in my mind (a nickname bestowed upon him in the late 80s by the late Jim Holliday). Tom Byron is one of the true legends in this business. With the dwindling down of those deserving ‘legendary recognition’…the Class of 2009 kicks off a ‘less is more’ process that will now keep each class limited to only five names.”
The Legends of Erotica ceremony is unique in that each inductee must choose a special person in their life (or career) to make the induction. ”This has resulted in a series of the most moving moments ever emoted in X-rated history,” adds Margold. The event is also a fundraising event for Protecting Adult Welfare.
Tom Byron will also be at the Tom Byron Pictures Booth throughout the AEE show, at Booth #5044. Tom and his eponymous studio have snagged 12 AVN Award nominations this year, including 2009 Male Performer of the Year and Best MILF, Oral-Themed and Anal-Themes Series (see photo attached for complete list).
