A ”Historical Handful” Comprise the Class of 2009 – Shane, Sunset Thomas, Stephanie Swift, Tom Byron and a Tribute to Gerard Damiano comprise ”The Historical Handful” who will be inducted into the Legends of Erotica on Friday January 9, 2009 during the 16th annual Hall of Fame event at Showgirl Video (631 South Las Vegas Blvd.) in Las Vegas.
”With the dwindling down of those deserving ‘legendary recognition’…the Class of 2009 kicks off a ‘less is more’ process that will now keep each class limited to only five names”, commented William Margold, the co-originator (with Arrow’s Raymond Pistol) of the Legends of Erotica in 1994.
Created under the motto—”There is no future if in the present we fail to pay homage to the past”—the event is unique in that each inductee must choose a special person in their life (or career) to make the induction. ”This has resulted in a series of the most moving moments ever emoted in X-rated history, with the audiences (consisting of fans and guests) who were fortunate enough to witness them, seeing their favorite performers, directors, agents and personalities truly humbled and humanized,” states Margold, who unashamedly admits to shedding quite a number of tears over the years.
”In the case of Daminao, who passed away a few months ago, his induction will feature the recollections and sentiments from those he directed throughout his very special career, including Georgina Spelvin, Jody Maxwell and Jamie Gillis, who will provide words to be read, if they are unable to attend,” concluded Margold.
