The last time I saw Raven I drove her to get into makeup, then to a scene that was canceled, then brought her back home. Raven was always a kind and funny girl to me. I enjoyed driving her around.
I remember a time about a decade ago that she would buy a big bunch of flowers and have me drive her to a church – any church – and go in to drop it off inside. She never shared with me why. She did that for a few weeks.
I met her through another girl who I drove and we hit it off on a professional basis. She recomended me to other girls to drive and I’d pick her up from the L.A. Direct model house to take her shopping and do errands. She would often talk about her Mom back east who she obviously cared very much about.
When Raven lived on Bluffside in Sherman Oaks I used to drive into the underground parking and help her with carrying groceries up the elevator and down the long halls to her apartment. Sometimes she would bring her little dog Taco with her when I took her shopping. She was generous and I enjoyed helping her.
I took Raven to the Van Nuys court house once when she had what appeared to be a violent roommate. She was bruised up and scratched from a fight. I went over several times after that to fix her vacuum cleaner and once to try and pick the lock to her room which she locked herself out of. I ended up calling my 12 step program sponsor who happens to be a locksmith to pick the lock. (I’ve been clean and sober since 1985.)
I lost track of her from time to time as she went to different agencies for representation, but would see her at events like the AVN Expo at her current agency’s booth. I wish now that I had more time to catch up with her each time I saw her. The last text of Raven I got was a picture from her and Savannah Jane shot in Savanna’s bathroom. Savannah lived in the same neighborhood then, and they were hanging out. When Raven vanished, shortly after that I would ask Savannah, who said she thought Raven had gotten a 9 to 5 job and, if so, I thought she may have a boyfriend which could be a reason why she had backed away from scenes and her Industry friends.
Savannah heard from her last near the end of September. She needed help and refused an offer to take her for treatment.
The last agency she had was Foxxx Modeling and Chris at Foxxx said Raven called him months ago and told him she was ok. That’s the last he heard from her until October 19 at about noon he got a text that she passed. When he got the text and read it, I asked that’s the matter? He showed me the text without speaking.
Goodby to a sweet soul who will always be missed and never be forgotten.
