By: Steve Nelson

In view of the unprofessional behavior of those behind Adultcon, Adult Industry News will not attend this or future Adultcons, will not accept press advertising Adultcon from any third party, and will review existing references to Adultcon in the nearly 5000 stories in our database to decide if they shall stay.

Below is the press release sent in to Adult Industry News from Adultcon. Note the date is May 6. The previous Adultcom release had been online shortly after March 19 and is still there as of writing this. It was located at AINews.com/Archives/Story4672.phtml but I’m taking it and all other references to all Adultcons off line shortly after publishing this and sending this as an email to others in the Adult Press. For the why of this keep reading.

[It seemed like Adultcon was promising that talent would do photoshoots for the press – I wouldn’t feel comfortable assuming talent would do this without asking them myself first. I left the press release sent an hour and a half ago in the "to be published" sub directory and went back to working on getting caught back up from my trip to Phoenix with Rubee Tuesday.]

[I received this when I was almost up to the Adultcon press release. I think it was the one after the one I was then working on.]

You have been email the Adultcon press release as an

We would appreciate being emailed back letting us know

If you no longer want our press releasees or will not

pe posting them, please email us.

thank you.

[I took this to be a bit impatient. It was like having a press release shoved at you and being told "either post it or tell us why not!" I finished the release I was working on and skipped the Adultcon release to go on to someone else’s press who isn’t at all irritating.]

[Then this came. It was addressed to me personally, made an implied accusation that I had ignored press from Adultcon for 2 weeks and not the 3 days from the 6th to the 9th, stated what may or may not be a demand for knowledge of intention to publish their press, and what very closely appears to be a threat and extortion – If we don’t respond we can’t come!]

Hi Steve,

Noticed that no Adultcon press was posted

in the last 2 weeks.

Just wanted to know if you have any intention of doing

so or if you will no longer be posting our releases.

If you do not respond, we will presume there is no

need to continue emailing you and that you have no

need to attend Adultcon.

thank you

——————————————————-

And finally, below is the responce I received from "The Adultcon Guy" (No signature is included on ANY correspondance except "Adultcon") after this story broke:

———- Basically His Last Email Message: ———-

Hello Steve,

You have all the time in the world to rant from your site, but no time to post the press release.

It is clear you are really NOT that busy.

Thank you for finally making clear there will no longer be coverage from you and that we do not have any further need to address each other.

This is all that was asked of you.

You do not need to cover Adultcon.

We do not want you there.

Take care,

Sincerely,

Adultcon

————————- And That Was About It ——————————

Excuse me if I’m busy! Three days delay to get a press release up and guess what? The only one who has EVER done anything – either threatened, bribed, extorted, been rude or irritating in any way – is the man behind Adultcon.

He never signs his name and writes me directly. He harasses again and again and says he only wanted a press release up. I know that is all he wanted – the way he was trying to get it is what ticks me off.

The flavor of his last email portrayed above is that of a little boy taking his ball and going home. Everyone knows of my reputation for doing things – for free – for people in the Industry, both talent and others. Their gratitude makes it worth it! There is not the time or space to list the help I’ve given "The Adultcon Guy".

I’ve been as much as a week behind at times and have had professional Industry PR people request in email politely if I had received their release. Sometimes a call will come in to see if I’m OK because it seems like there has been an unusually long time between updates. I thank those who know I’m speaking of them for their kindness, caring and tact.

Demanding additional press and advertising (that they have been getting for free) instead of being thankful for the service we provide rubs me the wrong way. I’m glad to help good people who have gratitude and I see helping others in the Industry. I try and distance myself from companies and individuals who are out for themselves at the cost of my friends, associates and the Adult Industry as a whole. I find "The Adultcon Guy" in the latter category.

In view of the unprofessional behavior of those behind Adultcon, Adult Industry News will not attend this or future Adultcons, will not accept press advertising Adultcon from any third party, and will review existing references to Adultcon in the nearly 5000 stories in our database to decide if they shall stay. (There were currently 16 to 20 stories about Adultcon in the database. If the links below are dead that means they are gone!)

My apologies to those who will be attending Adultcon and have sent in press advertising that they will be there. Don’t worry, I’ll find other ways to have your names in our database, links to your sites and get you indexed with Google! The Adult Industry News mission statement is to help improve the lives of Adult Professionals. That and pay the bills is all I want to do! Let’s have fun with it!

Sincerely,

Steve Nelson
