(NORTH TONAWANDA, NY) — Perhaps Officer Shawn Larson best summed up the latest chapter in the increasingly dismal life of John Wayne Bobbitt: “Been there, done that.”
That’s how Larson described the quiet air of resignation that surrounded Bobbitt when the officer arrested him at about 11 a.m. Tuesday following the latest domestic violence allegations leveled at the man who came to fame when his penis was sliced off by his former wife, Lorena Bobbitt.
Bobbitt’s current girlfriend had called police after a fight broke out between the two, Larson said. She claimed Bobbitt shoved her against a wall a couple of times and threw her to the ground after they had been arguing.
On parole for theft charges
“He was very quiet and relaxed,” Larson said of Bobbitt when he arrived to make the arrest. Bobbitt was charged with a single count of harassment in the second degree, the officer said.
Bobbitt pleaded not guilty in city court Wednesday before Judge Richard Kloch Sr.
Bobbitt, who was on parole for theft charges in Nevada, was ordered held on $50,000 bond. The judge also noted that Bobbitt had two previous incidents of domestic violence on his record from Las Vegas, where he was accused of beating up his then-fiancée.
A county court judge has since lowered his bond requirement to $2,000 cash or $4,000 in property, but Bobbitt was still unable to make bail and remains in the Niagara County Jail.
Bobbitt could not be reached for comment — he is not yet represented by a criminal law attorney, court officials said, and the jail house declined to convey a message to him. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 17, when he will be represented, officials said. Other attempts to reach Bobbitt or his representatives and associates were unsuccessful.
Student allegedly has sex video
Adding to Bobbitt’s legal troubles this week, his on-again, off-again manager, Robby Yates, said he was going to market a video of Bobbitt having sex with a 19-year-old in a Las Vegas hotel room, which Yates had taped without Bobbitt’s knowledge.
“I had about 10 cameras throughout the room — in smoke detectors, in clocks. I was hoping for half an hour of footage. I got like six hours. … John had no clue,” Yates said.
Yates told APBnews.com that Bobbitt’s lawyers had told him that despite the subterfuge, the plan might be legal because he had signed a release that same day for use of his image “for any videos shot throughout the day.” Bobbitt had been doing other shoots that day.
“It’s not illegal, I’d say, but it’s immoral,” Yates said. “John doesn’t read what he’s shown” before he signs it.
Bobbitt was furious at Yates’ trickery, Yates said, and then got into an unrelated fight with his girlfriend, who called the police. In what can only be described as a cruel twist, Bobbitt has now agreed to the release of the hotel room tape because he needs the money to get out of jail, Yates said.
Of course, it won’t be the first time Bobbitt’s sex life has made it to celluloid. In 1995, after his penis reattachment surgery, Bobbitt made a porn movie, John Wayne Bobbitt Uncut.
