We Cannot Hide from the Truth! The Snowball Effect… “I want my MTV!” is a pretty famous saying, however I think the phrase that is going to be quick to surpass it is “I want my uncensored HBO!”

Thankfully for the First Amendment and the lucrative benefits of giving the public what they want, we are far from close to seeing the Adult Industry closed down by Legislators or regulatory mandates.

I have been working diligently for weeks on the Heard System that we so actively support and realize that it really all breaks down to one pretty basic fact; because of this demand – without the Production Companies there is no “Industry”. There would be no need for Talent, Talent Representatives, AIM or anyone else for that matter.

So why should we all sit back like deer in the headlights when a clear and present threat is rapidly approaching the Production Companies? Let’s face it; if any bill or law is passed regarding health issues within the Adult Industry, really and truly it will be the Production Companies that are affected the most. Costs could sky rocket for them and cause them to cut production as much as in half if not all together. Perhaps they take their revenue dollar elsewhere, is that what we want? Or should we pull our heads out of the sand and prepare to face this situation head on as a Whole.

If Production Companies are ordered to pay for full panel testing every two weeks for Talent they shoot, it could cost as much as $580 (based on the AIM websites price sheet) in testing costs alone for ONE two person scene. That’s a lot to swallow on their side and the next person now to be affected is the Talent, as they will more than likely take those extra funds from scene rates to cover mandatory cost. Which of course will drop the amount a Talent Representative receives in commissions or possibly even referral fees as Production Companies decide they will have to pay less due to their increased filming costs.

And of course, if filming is reduced and the need for Talent is less, less testing will be required and AIM will suffer losses as well. Not to mention when the penny becomes tighter, the amount of donations will noticeably decrease.

This is why the Heard System was developed. It is the way for people to stop being sheep and become actively involved in their physical and financial futures. Most everyone I have come across is very out spoken, opinionated, idealistic and enthusiastic regarding this matter. But that seems to be all talk and very little action.

People must be protected from life altering risks in their profession; they must be able to feel secure and confident in what they do. They also must not be made to suffer in anyway because a “law” from an outsider says one particular piece of the puzzle MUST be responsible. I am afraid if we do not find a way to compromise and work Together to stop the ball that is rolling against the Production Companies, we will All suffer as Individuals.

Sincerely,

Tabetha Yang
