This Saturday, March 18, 2000, starting at about 10 PM (PT), in preparation for the joyous Jewish Holiday ofPurim, Dr. Susan Block will tell her erotic interpretation of the Purim Story of Esther, discussing the timeless questions and lessons about politics, prejudice and sexuality that this ancient piece of Judeo-Christian heritage imparts. Dr. Block will read excerpts from her short story Esther, published in The Erotic Edge, and encourage her guests and viewers to eat humentashen and drink (but please don’t drink and drive!), as befits what she calls the Yiddishe Mardi Gras.

The Purim Story tells the tale of Esther, a teenage Jewish beauty contest winner who changes the course of history. According to the Megillah, the entire Jewish population “from India to Ethiopia” was condemned to death in an ancient act of ethnic cleansing. Esther used her skills in the art of erotic entertainment to seduce the King into revoking the genocidal edict and, instead, executing the diabolical Hamen who orchestrated the whole Hitleresque venture. It’s a wild Biblical tale, and Dr. Block, her beloved butler/husband Max, her guests and callers are bound to render it even wilder.

Special guests this Saturday night will include Serenity, Jewel De’Nyle and Keisha and, as always, callers from around the globe. After the talk show part of the program, we’ll invite guests and studio-audience volunteers to enjoy Mario Saucedo’s Bondage Cross, the Speakeasy Gallery’s most popular interactive sculpture.

This show can be viewed live on Saturday night for FREE on our What’s New? page. It will be shown subsequently among archived programs in our Erotic Theater of the Mind, and will be edited for broadcast within the next few months as a half-hour episode of our weekly TV show, airing on cable stations throughout the Greater LA area, as well as in various locations around the world.

BlockStudios are located at the Dr. Susan Block Institute for the Erotic Arts & Sciences, a center of sex education, expression and exploration. The Institute also houses Dr. Suzy’s Speakeasy with a vintage 20-foot bar and stage from the buildings Prohibition Era days as a genuine 1920s speak-easy, and the Speakeasy Gallery, featuring LA’s only permanent collection of erotic art (curator: Kim Mendoza). The address is 1235 S. Hope Street in downtown LA, just down the street from the Neon Art Museum and around the corner from the Staples Arena and LA Convention Center. Regular Speakeasy Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday, 4 – 9 PM.

For further information, reservations (to attend the show in person) and revelations, please call 213.749.1330. Ask for show reservations. We have limited audience space. Please make your reservations well in advance.

Or just watch the live broadcast right on our What’s New? page or at www.radiosuzy1.com. It’s free every Saturday night! Other free showings occur on these pages about once a day at different times. So stay in touch.
