(Court TV) – Sometimes a massage is just a massage. But that wasn’t the case with Rose Marie Williams, a former beauty queen who ran a massage parlor that provided more sultry services. Williams pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony charges of promoting prostitution and money laundering.
The 60-year-old madam, operating under the cover of “Karen’s Personal Service,” ran a prostitution ring out of two homes she owned in the Seattle area. Williams, who was crowned Miss Washington in 1958, collected $200 for the massage/escort service and then transferred the client to a prostitute who would perform a sexual act for an additional fee.
Williams, who was convicted on a similar charge in 1971, will be sentenced Feb. 11. She could have faced 10 years in prison on the new charges, but prosecutors recommended only six months. Her lawyers will ask instead for community service for their client.
Williams is also trying to recover assets seized by police, including a bank account containing nearly $100,000 and $60,000 that she placed in a safety deposit box.
