(LONDON) — A man charged with public nudity gave stark evidence at his trial Friday: He appeared without clothes.
Vincent Bethell, a veteran campaigner for nudism, was ordered by the judge to remain seated in the dock as the trial opened. The jury saw only his upper body, head and beard.
Jurors saw more of Bethell in a brief video clip entered as evidence.
Bethell – whose case will resume next week – pleaded not guilty Friday to a single count of causing a public nuisance on “diverse days” between July 14 and Aug. 22 “by being naked in a public place and refusing to clothe himself.”
