(LOS ANGELES, CA) — Baci Lingerie donates over 1000 bras to victims of the recent tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma. The exact donation for 1176 brand new bras of various styles – a total retail value of over $15,000 – assists the XO Oklahoma organization, operated through the Kerr Foundation.
“It’s so important to have an organization such as the Kerr Foundation, especially in times of crisis and chaos,” says Baci Lingerie Director of Sales and Operations Alicia Sinclair. “We are very happy to be able to help, and encourage other companies to do what they can to help; we hope this is a step towards healing and recovery for the women of Moore after this terrible disaster.”
Moore, Oklahoma, which is located in the middle of the infamous “Tornado Alley,” was hit by a rare Ef-5 tornado on May 20, 2013. The path of destruction was 16.2 miles long and 2 miles wide, claiming 24 lives and injuring over 377 others. Two hundred mile per hour winds destroyed homes, businesses, hospitals, and schools. Ten days later another tornado ripped through Moore on May 31, resulting in devastating flooding and additional victims.
Hugs and Kisses, or XO, is a new project from the Kerr Foundation, formed to gather and distribute new and gently used clothing and accessory items for women and men affected by the Moore tornado disaster. The Foundation has partnered with the Infant Crisis Center, Suited for Success, and Women of the South, to collect donations. Through the project, the groups hope to also provide women affected by the deadly Moore tornadoes with a “girls’ day out” full of pampering.
The group will open a pop-up boutique in or near Moore in the next couple of weeks to provide a free shopping experience for women most affected by the tornadoes.
The Kerr Foundation, Inc supports 501(c)3 organizations, programs, and institutions providing new or enhanced opportunity within granting areas, in the areas of education, health, cultural development, and community service, with preference given to Oklahoma organizations and institutions. Baci Lingerie owner Frank Koretsky says, “Organizations like XO Oklahoma and the Kerr Foundation are crucial in times of natural disasters such as the one recently experienced in Moore. Grassroots organizations that can reach and help local residents quickly and efficiently in times of crisis are so important – and we’re happy to assist them with our donations. Baci urges everyone to find ways to help; together, we can create a positive road to recovery for everyone affected.”
Donating to XO Oklahoma is the most recent example of Baci Lingerie’s commitment to philanthropy, social consciousness, and charitable outreach. Baci Lingerie recently raised over $8,000 for the Eileen Stein Jacoby Fund for breast cancer, at Baci’s second semiannual charity dinner in April. Baci also participated in the 2013 Revlon Run/Walk to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and treatment. Baci’s international partners work harmoniously to streamline philanthropic endeavors and global vision. The synchronized network carries the Baci brand and philosophy to all territories simultaneously, allowing Baci to embrace and encourage the beauty of women throughout the world.
Additional donations are still being sought by XO Oklahoma; new or like-new items can be dropped off or shipped to the Kerr Foundation, 12501 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73120, attention Christi Coyle. For more information, email lkerr@thekerrfoundation.org, or click here.
