(NEW YORK, NY) — To showcase the release of their groundbreaking book, BDSM and alternative sexuality educators Lee Harrington and Mollena will be presenting a “Taboo Play and Working Through Extremes” workshop at the Den of Iniquity in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 7.

The workshop will explore the reasons some people enjoy play that is extremely edgy psychologically, emotionally and physically, as well as how to make that fantasy a reality before, during and after play. Discussion will include communication, negotiation, how to manage risk, how to support your play partner, ways to avoid some common pitfalls and the level of responsibility of all partners involved.

“A great deal of what we do in BDSM is about risk, is about pushing boundaries,” said Mollena. “That draws and seduces those of us who are curious about what lies just beyond the horizon of our consciousness. Scary? Yes. Tempting? Absolutely. We want to take a closer look at what scares us, what haunts us, and how we can navigate those emotional borderlands while keeping it hot and as safe as possible!”

The LA workshop is part of a national 16-city ‘whistle-stop’ tour by Harrington and Mollena. The tour will feature various workshops ranging from classes for the shy, to those more experienced in their fetish, including rope and taboo play, with a focus on communication and negotiation.

The tour also showcases their recent book, “Playing Well with Others: Your Field Guide to Discovering, Exploring and Navigating the Kink, Leather and BDSM Communities”. With the explosive success of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, millions have showed interest in the world of BDSM and power-exchange relationships; Harrington and Mollena have, with wit, humor and a steady hand, crafted a book that is not only helpful for those curious about the realities of these relationships, but also illuminate and fortify those who have already embarked on their journey. Books will be available at all workshops for purchase.

Already lauded and embraced by many BDSM luminaries, the book is fast becoming the go-to reference for the kinky, kink-curious and those who wish to deepen their understanding of the world of BDSM. More information about the book, as well as tour dates and locations, can be found at www.playingwellwithothers.org/.

“There is something delicious about exploring the shadowed parts of our spirit,” said Harrington. “Those things that hide out at the edges of sexual desire and whisper to us in the middle of the night. By glimpsing into the shadow, we can learn something new about ourselves… Find a new part of our inner truths.”

Please be advised: Some highly controversial scene play (racial or incest play, weaponry, etc) will be discussed. The educators advise not attending this workshop if these topics are outside of your comfort zone. Those interested in offering this sort of play at their dungeons, as well as those interested in this sort of play in their private life, sex educators and relationship coaches are encouraged to attend.

“The Den of Iniquity, in addition to being a Dungeon, has always been an institution for ‘higher learning’ and committed to the kink community,” said Head Mistress Tara Indiana. “I am truly honored to be hosting such well-respected kinksters for such an illustrious and important class. Edge-play is such a challenging fetish, and there are not enough reputable classes. T/their book “Playing Well with Others” I consider to be one of the most important books recently written in “How-to” SM literature; We will all be in attendance, and are confident that We will all benefit greatly from the class.”

“Taboo Play and Working Through Extremes” will be presented at downtown Los Angeles dungeon space Den of Iniquity. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets at playingwellwithotherslosangeles.brownpapertickets.com/.
