(RESEDA, CA) — Girlfriends Films is proud to support Alexa Smart, of the law offices of Piccionelli & Sarno, as she takes part in the 2012 Santa Barbara Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The $1000 donation to Alexa’s fundraising efforts acts as the August selection for Girlfriends Films’ charity program. The 2-day, 39-mile walk occurs September 22 and 23, as participants walk to raise awareness of breast cancer and money for research and prevention.

Girlfriends Films call on its strong community of fans and followers to join Alexa Smart in assisting the 2012 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. For more information on walking in the event, visit www.avonwalk.org/about/register-to-walk.html. Donations of all sizes may be made directly to the organization at walk.avonfoundation.org/site/PageServer?pagename=walk_donate.

An employee of Piccionelli & Sarno, Alexa Smart is actively involved in the adult industry. Company owner Gregory A. Piccionelli, Esq. Is regarded as one of the nation’s leading adult entertainment attorneys and is an upcoming guest on Girlfriends Films talk show “The Kinky & Creepy Show,” exclusively on GFFMembers.com.

“Breast cancer has been in my inner circle for as long as I can remember,” states Alexa Smart. “My mom’s best friend was first diagnosed with breast cancer in October 1997. She had a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Then in October 1998, she was diagnosed again with breast cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments a second time, and today she is cancer free.”

Alexa continues, “In August 2011, I was informed my Aunt had stage 2 breast cancer. She was treated aggressively with a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. The wound from the lumpectomy became infected, due to the chemotherapy and radiation, but the infection is not set to be fully gone until 2013. In addition, a dear friend of the family was also diagnosed last year with stage 2 breast cancer. She opted for a mastectomy.”

“The events with my aunt and family friend left me feeling helpless,” admits Alexa. “I couldn’t do anything! I would buy products promising to donate to breast cancer research in an effort to make a difference. Even my debit card supports breast cancer research. Then one day I met a wonderful woman. She told me her 31-year-old daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then she told me about the Avon walk. I went from feeling helpless to helpful in a matter of seconds. I joined soon after. Upon signing up, I learned the donations received help fund early detection, new treatment options, research, and hopefully one day, a cure.”

“I am walking for those men and women who are fighting the disease,” adds Alexa. “Those who have yet been diagnosed, those who have survived, and those who have lost the fight. I sincerely thank Girlfriends Films for its generous contribution. The donation will have an impact in the fight for the cure.”

Girlfriends Films has a long history of charitable contributions, having donated over $20,000 in 2011. Last year the company recently restructured its charity program from an annual end-of-year donation to an ongoing, monthly program. AVN Media founder Paul Fishbein kicked off the 2012 giving with a donation to Best Friend Animal Society, followed by Tanya Tate’s gift to the National Breast Cancer Coalition, XBIZ Managing Editor Dan Miller’s donation to the American Red Cross, AVN Senior Editor Mark Kernes’ donation to the Guttmacher Institute, and ..’ selection of Treasures.

Any Girlfriends Films performers interested in participating may apply by emailing the following information to PR@GirlfriendsFilms.com: name, AIP charity of choice, reason(s) for selecting the charity. Chosen performers will be asked to submit a personal photo depicting the performer engaged with the charity, the charity’s mission, or a similar charitable act. The photo will be used for promotional purposes.
