Dear APHSS participants, What you Need to Know About Performers Returning to Work. As of August 26, APHSS.org is offering the new Trep-Suretm syphilis test as an option for current protocols that have been implemented.
Going forward, the Trep-Suretm test will be part of the regular monthly testing panel for performers. The test has a 14-day window period, shortening considerably the amount of time needed to detect the presence of syphilis in the body.
We realize current protocols are complicated and we appreciate the patience and understanding of the performers and producers at this time. So, in order to clarify:
Testing
If you were already treated with a shot or meds – if you received prophylactic treatment (shots or meds), you need to wait ten days after you got the shot or took pill medication. After ten days, you should return to an APHSS facility and have an additional syphilis test; if that test is clear, you will be marked as “available” in the APHSS database to work.
If your regular panel is expired or about to expire at that point, you may want to have a full panel test (including syphilis) when you return for follow-up testing.

Only syphilis testing (and related costs for any medication) is being provided for free to performers from a special fund established by producers.
If you were not treated with medication, but have opted for testing only – you can now go to specified APHSS testing facilities to have the Trep-Suretm test. After the test will be administered, you must wait 14 days and then return to an APHSS testing facility for a follow-up test. If both tests are clear, then you will be marked as “available” for work in the APHSS database.
The Trep-Suretm test is available through Cutting Edge Testing, SameDayTest.com (AMTC) and STDStatus.com.
These tests will be provided to performer free of charge and paid for from a special fund established by producers.
APHSS has testing stations available in over 2000 locations nationwide. If you have not been treated with medication or tested for syphilis – we strongly recommend that you contact one of the APHSS testing facilities; Cutting Edge Testing is located in Miami and the Los Angeles Area.
Outside those areas, SameDayTest.com and STDStatus.com can provide service near you. These are APHSS testing facilities that can administer the Trep-Suretm test. Once you contact them, you will talk to a doctor and be instructed on how to proceed. You will be directed to a draw station for a blood draw. Fourteen days after the first test, you should return to the testing facility and have a follow-up test.
If both tests are clear, then you will be marked as “available” for work in the APHSS database.

Reimbursement
If you were treated outside of the APHSS system, with a doctor or medical facility in your area, and you have incurred expenses related to a doctor’s visit or medications, you can submit paperwork for reimbursement.
