(CHATSWORTH, CA) — Girlfriends Films is donating $1000 to Best Friends Animal Society on behalf of AVN Media Network founder Paul Fishbein. The monetary gift is the January 2012 selection for Girlfriend’s Films monthly charity program. Past charities include Lambda Legal, Muscular Dystrophy Association, NPR, Cancer Research Institute, and more. Popular lesbian performer Jelena Jensen also selected Best Friends Animal Society, in November 2011. Fishbein’s donation is dedicated to ensuring a time when there are no longer homeless pets.

Girlfriends Films calls on its strong community of fans and followers to join Paul Fishbein in the prevention of homeless pets. Donations of all sizes may be made directly to Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org/donate/give.cfm?tc=Wdgena.

Fishbein states, “I have always been impressed with Best Friends Animal Society as they seem to actually spend all the proceeds they receive on rescuing, rehabilitating, and placing the animals in proper homes. It’s not a money grab like some animal-rescue organizations. They care about saving lives.”

“Girlfriends Films has a strong track record for philanthropy within the adult industry and beyond,” continues Fishbein. “Their charity program is a great idea, and one I hope other studios take note of. Allowing me to select where the January donation goes is an honor I am thankful for.”

With 2011 coming to an end, Girlfriends Films is celebrating its prosperous year by making additional $1000 donations. Checks were sent out to the Cancer Research Institute, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Doctors Without Borders, and Compassion & Choices.

Girlfriends Films Vice President Moose says, “We had a great year and wanted to give back even more. Five additional charities dear to the hearts of Girlfriends Films’ employees will also receive $1000, in addition to our contribution on behalf of Paul. We hope it helps further the organizations’ great causes.”

Paul Fishbein recently appeared on Girlfriends Films’ talk show the Kinky & Creepy Show, which is hosted by Dana DeArmond and Samantha Ryan and available exclusively on GFFMembers.com. Fishbein is one of the most avid supporters of Girlfriends Films’ movies through highly rated reviews.

Girlfriends Films has a long history of charitable contributions, having donated over $40,000 in 2010 and 2011. The company recently restructured its charity program from an annual end-of-year donation to an ongoing, monthly program. 2011 donations include Melissa Monet’s choice of Planned Parenthood, Lily Cade’s selection of Lambda Legal, Ryan Keely’s pick of NPR, Trinity St. Clair’s selection of Life 4 Paws, Jiz Lee’s donation to a California girls organization, Dyanna Lauren’s donation to Child Find of America, Cindy’s selection of Cancer Research Institute, Jelena Jensen’s selection of Best Friends Animal Society, and Samantha Ryan’s choice of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Any Girlfriends Films performers interested in participating may apply by emailing the following information to PR@GirlfriendsFilms.com: name, AIP charity of choice, reason(s) for selecting the charity. Chosen performers will be asked to submit a personal photo depicting the performer engaged with the charity, the charity’s mission, or a similar charitable act. The photo will be used for promotional purposes.

About Best Friends Animal Society:

Best Friends Animal Society is guided by a simple philosophy: kindness to animals builds a better world for all. In the late 1980s, when Best Friends was in its early days, roughly 17 million dogs and cats were being killed in shelters every year. Despite the commitment of shelter workers to the animal in their care, the conventional belief was that little could be done to lower that terrible number. Best Friends’ No More Homeless Pets campaign created a new vision: A grassroots effort to place dogs and cats who were considered “unadoptable” into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Since then, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year. There has been much progress, but there is still much more to do. The work of Best Friends is supported entirely by the donations of its members. Through the generous hearts and hands of people like you, they can ensure animals who come into the care of Best Friends will never again be alone, hungry, sick, afraid, or in pain.
