Passive Arts Studios

Tuesday morning at roughly 11:30 am a fire was reported at Passive Arts Studios at 10914 S. LaCienega Blvd. A popular gathering place for people interested in and/or practicing the BDSM lifestyle, it was described on the now disabled website as ”The Nation’s largest, most elegant and best equipped dungeon.”

A man in his 50s, possibly the owner of the club, was found in the building. The charred remains of a man and a dog were taken to the city morgue. The LA County Fire Inspector said cause of death has not yet been determined. A second man with reported injuries found across the street in the bushes claimed he’d been hit by a car.

The BDSM community showed an outpouring of grief at word of the news. ”It’s a shame that an iconic establishment of the Los Angeles BDSM scene has been lost… it was a beginning for so many people in LA to find their way in BDSM” said Dungeon Corp Director John Paul the Pope. ”The first BDSM exposure I had in Los Angeles was at Passive Arts and it will be missed. Hopefully it will not be forgotten any time soon.”

We at Adult Industry News express our heartfelt sympathy to the friends and family of the deceased as well as the BDSM community.
