(TAMPA, FL) — An Internet company that set up a “dorm” with cameras so subscribers can follow the daily lives of its young female residents can stay in its residential home, an appeals judge ruled Friday.
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta overturned a lower court’s decision, ruling that since customers don’t visit the Tampa neighborhood where the women live and are filmed, the city can’t apply zoning laws banning adult entertainment.
The ruling is the latest in the two-year effort by the city to shut down Voyeur Dorm, which charges customers $39.95 for a monthly membership to watch the women – clothed and unclothed.
Attorneys for the city and the Web site were not immediately available for comment Friday.
