To the Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate regarding exploited children:

To The Honorable Senator Mark Begich, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator John Boozman, Senator Barbra Boxer, Senator Robert P. Casey Jr., Senator Susan M. Collins, Senator Bob Corker, Senator John Cornyn, Senator Richard J. Durbin, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Charles Grassley, Senator Mark Kirk, Senator Patrick Leahy, Senator Claire McCaskill, Senator Bill Nelson, Senator John D. Rockefeller, Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Jon Tester.

I am Lucky Lieberman, the spokesperson for CraigsErotica.com, a new legal adult entertainment Internet directory. I am writing this letter to you in regard to the letter that you had sent to Backpage.com on March 23, 2012, requesting that they eliminate their adult section.

We at CraigsErotica.com take issue with your lack of understanding regarding the sexual exploitation of children. It is our feeling that just one sexually exploited child, is one too many. You appear to blame the adult entertainment Internet directory services, and the Adult Industry as a whole, instead of pedophiles, and even in some cases the children’s caregivers.

We have an epidemic in America. You stated there are 300,000 children being forced into sex slavery. I’ve read that through Backpage.com about twenty-five hundred child predators have been apprehended. If it wasn’t for Backpage.com law enforcement would not have caught 2,500 heinous predators, therefore, adult entertainment Internet directory services can also provide a way to keep our children safe! Where are the parents and guardians of these children who are accessing adult sites? Parental control is a must to safeguard them from being lured in by these demented criminals!

I’m appalled by your assertion that the sexual exploitation of children is of the epidemic proportion that you say it is! Do your numbers include children being sexually molested by family members or family friends and neighbors? By your numbers there must be over ten million pedophiles running loose in America, and yet, we don’t have enough resources assigned from our law enforcement to properly tackle this problem. It seems you would rather persecute legal professional escort companions and other consenting adults, rather than allocate sufficient resources to protect our children. In doing so you not only violate an adult’s constitutional rights to freedom of expression, their pursuit of happiness, and their right to contract, but you lose sight of what should be your primary objective; protecting our children!

If you came to your senses, you would utilize more law enforcement to identify and capture pedophiles. The most important issue is to stop the criminal element that preys upon our children, not persecuting adults engaged in legal endeavors.

Intimidating Craigslist.com to give up their adult section was a big mistake. Attempting to intimidate Backpage.com to shut down their adult section is another big mistake. Your actions, without any doubt, will drive the trafficking of children underground. Once underground it is almost impossible for law enforcement to apprehend the predators and save the children. Let us not waste law enforcement’s time and resources chasing adults engaged in legal endeavors at the expense of the safety of our children! If every law enforcement agent on the “vice squad” screened every ad on the main adult directories in their respective cities with an eye out to protect those under the age of consent, and stopped trying to set up escort companions by offering them money for sex, we would just about eliminate the exploitation of the children.

What I find disturbing is that as far as I can ascertain from your respective web sites, is that only two of you, Senator John Cornyn and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, out of the eighteen remaining in office that signed the March 23, 2012, letter to Backpage.com, mentioned the plight of the children being forced into the sex industry.

This does not send the correct signal to our nation or the other nations of the world. If you want to stop the trafficking of children take my letter very, very seriously. Utilize the “vice squads” for apprehending pedophiles that traffic children on the Internet.

Sincerely,

Lucky Lieberman,

Spokesperson for CraigsErotica.com
