(LOS ANGELES, CA) — Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce that multiple AVN award winning contract star Stormy Daniels and V.P. Of Special Projects Joy King appeared in Washington D.C. yesterday morning on behalf of the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP).

The group launched National Internet Safety Month with a special press conference highlighting initiatives currently being pursued by the adult industry to safeguard minors from mature content online.

The press conference was just the latest of several media appearances that have placed Wicked and King firmly in the mainstream news spotlight regarding National Internet Safety Month, California Assemblyman Charles Calderon’s proposed state tax on porn, and other hot-button issues.

Held in the heart of Washington at the renowned National press Club, the conference saw Daniels, King, and ASACP CEO Joan Irvine discussing the ways in which the RTA (a ”Restricted to Adults” website label) is protecting minors from accessing age-inappropriate content.

The conference also featured previews of new ASACP public service announcements featuring Daniels in clips designed to promote parental filtering software awareness. The well-attended event was co- sponsored by the non-profit Website Rating and Advisory Council (WRAAC), which operates www.parentalcontrolbar.com.

Considered a success by everyone involved, the conference received favorable coverage on the front page of Congress Daily’s Tech Central, with additional news items appearing in media outlets as diverse as the LA Times and Examiner.com.

Wicked also made the political spotlight recently when King appeared on CNN’s Prime News to discuss California Assemblyman Charles Calderon’s proposed 25 percent tax on the gross revenues of all creators and distributors of adult product.

”The Calderon Bill” would tax virtually every player in the process, from the movie studios themselves to the cable stations and retailers that sell the product. While conservative host Mike Galanos adopted a combative stance throughout the segment, King calmly addressed the obvious – that the Bill is fundamentally unconstitutional and discriminatory, and an affront to First Amendment-protected speech.

A member of the Free Speech Coalition, King also traveled to Sacramento recently to meet with legislators in person to discuss the Calderon Bill as a part of the Free Speech Coalition’s Celebrate Free Speech Lobbying Days. Her tireless work on behalf of this cause also caught the attention of the New York Times earlier this week, with writer Jennifer Steinhauer quoting her in a piece devoted to the issue Monday morning.

Finally, Wicked and King were showcased in a recent overview of the adult industry featured in the mainstream trade standard Variety. Thoughtfully written by legendary producer Peter Guber, the piece makes references to such high profile Wicked titles as Space Nuts, Flashpoint, and Manhunters, while sharing King’s views on what the industry is doing to remain viable and profitable in an uncertain economy.

Just as they continue to reaffirm their commitment to creating couples friendly erotica designed for women and couples, the contract talent and key executives of Wicked Pictures continue to maintain a dialogue with the media and culture at large regarding the most pressing issues of the day.
