Calendar Communications, a three-year-old online Graphic Design and Writing firm, today announced the launch of a new company; Xbranding Ltd to serve the marketing needs of the online adult industry.
Calendar Communications, which celebrated its third profitable year on May 1, has been serving the marketing and branding needs of both traditional and adult companies in North America, Europe and Australia from its base of operations in Montpellier, France.
The website for the new company, Xbranding.com went live this morning.
"As the economy has begun to hit traditional online commerce firms, we have felt the need to diversify and target the Adult industry, which remains very profitable," said company CEO Bart Calendar. "At the same time, we have felt that by providing both adult and mainstream marketing efforts under the Calendar Communications brand, we may be confusing potential clients in both industries."
Calendar spent 10 years as a journalist for two of the largest and most reputable daily newspapers in New Jersey. It was while working as a journalist, Calendar said, that he gained the healthy respect for freedom of speech and expression, which has allowed him to be proud of both his mainstream and adult efforts.
"People have asked me if I am ashamed of being a pornographer," Calendar said. "Honestly, people asked me the same question when I was a journalist. At the moment, I suspect I am prouder of representing an industry that produced Hugh Hefner and Bob Guccione than I am of the industry that produced Janet Cooke and Jayson Blair."
Calendar Communications was founded as a writing firm in May 2000. The following February, Calendar Communications merged with Blank Project Ltd and began offering graphic design as well as writing services. In December, Calendar Communications hired a new vice president and launched a division dedicated to providing grant-writing services to the non-profit sector.
Calendar Communications has never had its own website and has instead relied on third party services, including Elance, Smarterwork and Veripros.net, to target the growing Internet marketplace.
"We have now made a decision that while the Adult industry continues to grow, it just makes sense to have a web presence targeted directly to that market," Calendar said. "All other e-commerce marketplaces are shrinking, while the adult industry thrives."
