(CHATSWORTH, CA) — Award Winning Director Thomas Zupko has recently made an agreement with Elegant Angel Productions to direct an upcoming feature entitled “Flesh Circus”.

Zupko, best known for his psycho-sexual imagery, is looking to steer his visions in a new direction with this upcoming feature, slated to begin shooting in the next couple of weeks. “Flesh Circus” is a psychological tale about a young girl whose car breaks down on her way from Las Vegas to LA. Lost in the desert, she stumbles upon an extremely bizarre circus where all of her lurid sexual fantasies materialize before her. “It’s kind of like a combination of ‘the Devil in Miss Jones’ and ‘Dante’s Inferno'”, says Zupko. He adds, ” I don’t want to give away any of the scenes, but suffice to say, they will be memorable-or so I hope!”

Zupko has been nominated for Director of the Year by AVN in 2001, Director of the Year by XRCO in 2001 and 2002, and Director of the Year by the Barcelona Film Festival Awards in 2001. His previous titles have been named “Video of the Year” by several adult publications and websites. He brings to Elegant Angel a true vision of psychological depravity, one born from a marriage of his non-conformist attitude and his mastery of visual storytelling.

From Zupko: “I’ve matured in my personal life, and as a result, I’ve evolved as a director. I realize that making scenes just for the sake of shock value can get you attention and accolades, but that this approach is no longer challenging to me . I want to differentiate myself from the rest of the field. So the challenge is to still create a psychological impact without resorting to all of the violent dramatic window dressing. My objective is to focus more on erotica, yet still produce the same kind of powerful reaction from the viewer.”

Prior to his career in adult film-making, Zupko was a writer in New York City, and also managed a string of strip clubs and adult bookstores. In addition, he spent time as a writer and publicist at Arrow Productions. Zupko began directing and making adult movies in 1995, and was best known for his early work at Extreme Associates. He left Extreme in November of 2002, taking time off to re-energize and re-focus. He spent time reading Dostoyevsky and watching old Nicholas Roeg films.

After shooting 20 films, Zupko divulges what inspires him… “Obviously, hardcore sex, good-looking women, big tits, fat asses, and girls who suck cock like vacuums. And….just being around good, honest, intelligent human beings who actually give a fuck. I really believe that cinema is a reflection of our humanity, and the cinematic expression of sex, is as artistically valid as any other genre of movie-making. It’s important to have an artistic vision…and to understand that the most successful pornographers in history are great artists. And if you don’t believe that, try depicting a sex act on camera in new, original interesting ways.”

Zupko has been aware of Patrick Collins and his work for at least a decade, but actually just met him for the first time last week. And when asked about his union with Elegant Angel, Zupko responds enthusiastically, “I’m really looking forward to it. So far, they have gone out of their way for me, treating me with the utmost respect. My goal with Elegant is to give them the most cutting edge, technically-perfect videos on the market, but which are also cable-friendly. My objective is to give Elegant Angel a nomination for video of the year with every feature I make.”

At this time, Zupko is not under contract with any company. Although for now, his only focus will be the creation of “Flesh Circus”. But the idea of an exclusive arrangement with Elegant Angel is not an impossibility. “To be completely honest, both Axel Braun and Patrick Collins have been so cool with me, I hope I am here for many years to come. I’m very excited about the prospects of the future.”

Look for “Flesh Circus”, Thomas Zupko’s first release for Elegant Angel, in May of 2003.
