For the past few years, CD Baby has held a top-sellers contest. The artists who sold the most CDs for that month would be placed on a compilation disc sent out to 5,000 CD Baby customers. This year, we are taking it to the next level.
Starting August 1st, we will be tracking all of your sales through CD Baby. All avenues count: Digital, Physical, and the Swipers program (that is the only way we are counting live show sales).
Through our partnership with Ryko/Warner, we have the ability to release a limited number of CDs into retail stores each year. This opportunity will be offered to one CD Baby top selling artist, per month, over the next year.
We’ll also help promote each CD chosen with a marketing fund of $3000 per release. This can be used for anything from manufacturing to hiring a publicist to having listening stations in music stores – or a combination of each of these!
There is nothing you need to do except go out there, promote your music, play shows, and do what you do best. If you do it well enough, you will be rewarded with one of the best, rarest, and fairest distribution deals available. We will notify the winning top seller of the month a few days after to explain all the rules, details, and legalese. If it is something you are not interested in, if you already have a deal, or if you don’t think it is right for you, don’t feel bad about saying no.
