(BEVERLY HILLS, CA) — The series that is responsible for bringing grown men to their knees and introducing nubile 18-year-old girls to the porn business celebrates its 75th DVD release with a special Barely Legal documentary, the Birth of a Phenomenon.
In stores September 25, 2007, Barely Legal #75 is a two-disc, special collector’s edition that includes all the mind-blowing sex that fans expect, as well as an exclusive look into the rise of Hustler’s teen cultural sensation.
The Birth of a Phenomenon focuses on the late director Clive McLean, the man known as the visionary behind Barely Legal. McLean started as a photographer for Hustler Magazine and was the first and only writer/director for Barely Legal video until his illness and subsequent death in 2005. Following the success of the magazine of the same name, Barely Legal videos started production in 1999 and were known as the original teen series. Since then, there have been plenty of imitators, but none have come close to the Barely Legal formula.
“When we were putting together this collector’s edition we knew we wanted to honor Clive in some way,” says LFP Video Group Creative Director Drew Rosenfeld. “The documentary is a great way for the fans to get a glimpse of what it was like in the early days of the series and to really experience what a great guy Clive was.”
Some of the biggest players in the adult industry are featured in the Birth of a Phenomenon documentary, including Larry Flynt, Tera Patrick, Suze Randall, Jenna Haze, Belladonna, Kimberly Kane and Nick Manning.
“It was like a family reunion,” says Clive’s widow and current director of the Barely Legal series, Erica McLean. “Myself and the Hustler team brought together performers, photographers and crew from past and present to reminisce. The love and affection everyone felt for Clive was overwhelming.”
The Birth of a Phenomenon documentary is part of Barely Legal #75’s two-disc, special collector’s edition that releases on September 25, 2007.
