(ISLAMORADA, FL) — For one week a year the sleepy little town of Islamorada in the Florida Keys, made famous by the writings of Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey, plays host to a nonstop, out of control adult party formerly called the Bartender’s Bash, now officially called the Hospitality Expo.

It is an event closed to the public, but open to anyone employed in the hospitality industry, restaurants, nightclubs and bars. It is an event that would make Hemingway turn over in his grave.

The “Bash” held annually in May showcases many new products for restaurants and bars, and allows industry workers to meet and socialize.

But the main events over the week are the bartender’s skills competitions. Picture something out of the movie “Cocktail” with Tom Cruise. The Expo’s grand finale is the bikini contest sponsored by a popular alcoholic beverage company.

The loosely titled “bikini contest” is a great chance for the hot girls of the hospitality industry to show themselves off in bikinis or less. Contestants came from Michigan, Virginia, Georgia and various parts of Florida to compete for cash prizes and the title.
