(LAS VEGAS, NV) — Once each year-and only once-members of the billion dollar gentlemen’s club industry gather at an industry convention created solely for them. It began in 1993 with only a few hundred attendees, but has since grown. And grown.
Nine years later, the Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo, produced by Exotic Dancer Publications, drew over 3,000 adult nightclub owners, feature entertainers and industry professionals to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on August 28-30, 2001.
“We at ED are proud to say that we have created an event which, over the last nine years, has become a defining moment for members of the adult nightclub industry,” says Expo producer Don Waitt of EXOTIC DANCER Publications, producers of the industry’s leading annual guide to gentlemen’s clubs; a bi-monthly magazine for club owners, club managers, dancers and other industry professionals; and the industry’s leading website, the revamped www.exoticdancer.com. “This year, members of this often maligned industry came to an event where they receive the respect and attention that they so much deserve. And with such an incredible venue as Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, how could they help but have a great time!”
A certain highlight of the many Expo 2001 festivities was the EXOTIC DANCER’s Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show, held at the Mandalay Bay Theater on Wednesday August 29. Like the Expo itself, the Awards Show offers the adult nightclub industry the opportunity to salute its own, while having a lot of fun in the process. Hosted by one of today’s hottest comedians, Robert Schimmel, the show featured hot performances by each of the beautiful nominees for the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award, as well as some hilarious moments provided by Schimmel himself. When it was all said and done, Club Paradise in Las Vegas walked away with Adult Nightclub of the Year honors, while Felecia was crowned 2001’s Entertainer of the Year.
Surely, the thousands of Expo attendees came to the annual event to have a great time. But they also came to improve their businesses or feature careers. They learned about the most pressing issues in the adult nightclub industry from leading attorneys and other industry professionals during the Expo panel sessions; they saw over 225 companies exhibit products specifically tailored for them at the Expo Tradeshow; they witnessed performances from the hottest feature entertainers in the industry today at several hot dancer showcases, including the official Feature Entertainer Showcase at The Beach nightclub on Thursday, August 30; and they got a priceless opportunity to meet with old friends and make new ones among their adult industry compatriots.
Once again, the Annual Fan Fair followed the Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo. This marked the event’s fifth straight year in existence. At this special two-day event, fans had the unique opportunity to meet with over 100 of the industry’s hottest feature entertainers, magazine covergirls and adult movie starlets. For the fourth year in a row, the ladies competed in the Annual EXOTIC DANCER Pool Party & Bikini Contest at the gorgeous Mandalay Bay pool on Friday, August 31. Feature entertainer and adult magazine model Exotica, who was voted the overall winner for the second year in a row, walked away with a $2,000 cash prize from the Pure Gold club chain, the event’s sponsor. Friday evening featured the finals of the Miss Exotic Dancer Pageant Series, which was held at Las Vegas’ Little Darlings gentlemen’s club. After a number of impressive performances from the finalists, Adrian Belle, who represented Pure Gold in South Carolina, was crowned Miss Exotic Dancer of the Year.
On Saturday, September 1, the entertainers signed autographs, posed for pictures and sold their posters and videos at the Fan Fair Tradeshow, which also featured giveaways from feature entertainers and top adult industry magazines. On Saturday evening, Vanna Lace hosted the Fan Fair 2001 “Dream Date Showcase” at Las Vegas’ Spearmint Rhino club, which included performances by ten of the industry’s hottest feature entertainers.
