(VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA) — Here’s the latest news from Vivid Entertainment Group:
* When "American Pie 2" from Universal hits big screens across the country on August 10th movie goers will be treated to a Vivid bonus. The film – starring Jason Biggs, Natasha Lyonne, Shannon Elizabeth, Chris Klein, and Tara Ried – contains footage from "Sex & The Stranger," a sultry 2000 title starring Raylene. "American Pie 2," of course, is the already controversial (there’s a big flap over condom endorsements) sequel to the raunchy sex romp of a couple of years ago. The film is about the adventures of a pack of college freshmen on a break. At one point the guys are in a rented house watching porn on t.v. and the footage is from Vivid.
* Jenna Jameson signed with Vivid in July. A celebration party to welcome Jenna was the place to be in L.A. on July 26th. Joya in Beverly Hills was packed, with Chasey Lain, Briana Banks and Chelsea Sinclaire on hand to welcome Jenna as a Vivid Girl. Bill Maher, host of the ABC program "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," also showed up to hang with Jenna, as did actor Jonathan Silverman ("The Single Guy") and Colorado Rockies pitcher Denny Neagle.
* FOX News aired Flesh, Incorporated, a special on the adult industry in late July that prominently featured Vivid. Producers said ratings were consistently high for the show, prompting them to rebroadcast it two weeks later, and also to edit a special version that includes the Vivid segment for use in a Fox News Magazine show in early August.
* Releases Scheduled for August include "Now or Never" with Dasha, "Bad Thoughts" with Dayton, "Prisoner" with Kira Kener, "Busted" with Raylene and "Daytime Drama" with Cheyenne.
* Vivid is hot in men’s magazines this summer. Both Details and soon-to-be-on-newsstands Detour have in-depth articles on the company. And, Vivid’s sale (for a price reported to have been more than $100 million) of The Hot Networks to Playboy Enterprises was covered by every major business publication and news service. As part of the sale, Vivid has contracted for a 10-year output deal. Meanwhile, Vivid is building up its international pay-per-view distribution.
