(HOLLYWOOD, CA) — Jon Favreau, writer/director and star of budding arthouse hit “Made,” has signed on to rewrite the romantic comedy “Porn Star,” with a view to directing.
The Universal Pictures project concerns an ordinary man who innocently falls in love with an adult film star.
Brian Grazer will produce via his Imagine Entertainment banner. The script was originally penned by his wife, Gigi Levangie (“Stepmom”), and his brother, Gavin Grazer. Universal bought “Star” as an untitled spec script in October 1999 for Imagine to produce, paying an estimated $400,000 advance against a $1 million payday if the project was produced.
Favreau recently completed work on “Dinner for Five,” a half-hour special for the Independent Film Channel, and is about to begin work on a Thanksgiving version of the show. ”Made,” in which he co-stars with “Swingers” pal Vince Vaughn, has grossed about $465,000 after two weekends in limited release. It expands to 100 theaters from 19 next weekend.
