(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) — The 12th Annual San Francisco Drag King Contest, the biggest, best, and longest running Drag King Competition in the World, taking place on Saturday, August 18, 2007, 8pm at San Francisco’s Mega- Art and Event Space, SomArts, formally announces it will be ‘Bigger, Better, and Longer’ with two additional nights of pre-contest parties.
This year’s ‘Balls to the Walls’ Festivities will begin where the first Drag King contest was held back in 1994, at San Francisco’s legendary leather bar, the Eagle. The Drag King Meat & Greet, Thursday, August 16, 2007, 10:00 pm to 2:00 am, will feature a headlining musical performance by San Francisco’s best known F*ckabilly Band, the the Mighty Slim Pickens, featuring lead singer Leigh Crow, formerly known as Elvis Herselvis (aka Clitorius Maximus). New rock band, Animal Prufrock, featuring Animal (formerly of Bitch and Animal), and the Momma’s Boyz, will also be sharing the spotlight. Admission is only $5.00. On the very next evening, August 17, 2007, 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm, everyone is invited to San Francisco’s favorite Dyke Bar, the Lexington, to down a few good, cheap stiff ones with Drag King Royalty, Contestants and Friends at the Good Boy, Bad Boi and Good Girl, Bad Grrl Cocktail Hour. One dollar margaritas for one hour between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm and One dollar shots of tequila between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Admission is Free. The Cat Club’s Upstairs will feature Chez Badunkadunk, San Francisco’s Best Strip Club + BurlyQ, where the best Exotic Dancers from the Lusty Lady and the Black Widows, plus Drag King Strippers: Seimen Marcus, L. Ron Hubby, and more, will entertain. Also appearing is a special guest and Burlesque Legend: Isis Starr, and resident DJs D.I.E. The Cat Club Downstairs features DJs: Javier Nature Boy (Glitterbox), Margaret (the Transfer), Derek (Trannyshack), and Mauricio Aviles (Gritt), spin Disco, Funk, Hip Hop & Rock & Roll.
