The Remake of ”Deep Throat” proved daunting even for top adult studio Vivid, and it’s all chronicled in new cable TV series ”Deeper Throat” Debuting on Saturday, February 14th.
(LOS ANGELES, CA) — When Vivid Entertainment, the world’s leading adult film studio, set out to produce a remake of the classic ”Deep Throat” the studio’s chief had no idea what he was in for. A riveting reality series, ”Deeper Throat,” which details all the gory drama of the making of ”Throat” – an update of the famous Linda Lovelace film – begins airing Saturday, February 14th at 11:30 PM et on premium cable TV. World of Wonder was just getting underway in its production of the ”Deeper Throat” reality series when the endeavor began to take unexpected and dramatic turns.
”I’ve got nothing against strip clubs but I like mine upscale,” says Vivid co- chairman Steven Hirsch about his first meeting with Ray Pistol, the owner of Arrow Productions, which controls rights to ”Deep Throat” and anything to do with it.
”In the first episode of the series Ray asked me to meet him in a really seedy strip joint in Vegas and the place made me feel uncomfortable,” Hirsch recalls. ”Then he had one of his dancers try to give me a lap dance and I was thinking well, ‘you gotta do what you gotta do to make this happen,’ but I just hope it’s worth it.”
Vivid said it will offer advance screeners of ”Throat” to adult media prior to the release of the film, scheduled for March 18th. (Contactjackie@vivid.com for screeners.) the studio also plans on releasing scenes from the film in advance, on a special website created for the movie.
”Throat” is directed by award winner Paul Thomas and stars Sasha Grey in the famous Linda Lovelace role. It has been described by AVN reviewer Jared Rutter as ”porn noir, a dark mystery about innocence destroyed. Swiftly paced and engrossing, it plays like a mainstream movie.” He also called it ”a whole new take on the porn classic. All that remains of the jokey original is the concept of a woman whose clitoris is located in her throat; the only way she can reach orgasm is” by performing oral sex. AVN gave the movie 5 As, its highest rating.
