(PHILADELPHIA, PA) — HotMovies.com and Distribpix Inc. are pleased to announce the exclusive release of the fully remastered, adult classic the Opening of Misty Beethoven on Friday, January 25 at Hotmovies.com. Along with the feature film itself, Hotmovies will also be releasing fourteen extras, including original trailers and radio spots, director commentary and Jamie Gillis’ final interview.
The Opening of Misty Beethoven has undergone an extreme film restoration that lasted almost an entire year. Steven Morowitz, the head of Distribpix Inc. says, “The goal was to restore and release the film Uncut – in High Definition, in its proper aspect ratio, digitally restored, and with tons of extras that would help put the film into the proper historical context. It is important to note that Misty has never had a proper home video release, as it was always edited for content and released in the improper aspect ratio, with poor color and overall quality. I wanted to fix all of that, and make it almost perfect. The fans wanted it in HD and they wanted it to look amazing – I think we accomplished most of that.”
Hotmovies director of business development James Cybert praised Misty Beethoven, “We’re thrilled to be the home of what many people consider to be the greatest adult film of all time, now restored to its previous glory.”
The entire contents of the Opening of Misty Beethoven 2 Disc Collector’s Edition will be encoded and available to view at Hotmovies.com on January 25.
A little more information on Radley Metzger (Henry Paris) and the Opening of Misty Beethoven:
Radley Metzger is an American filmmaker that started his career working as an editor for a major film company in NYC and eventually opened his own production and distribution company called Audubon Films. In the start of his career he would license foreign films and add newly shot footage, of a more risqué, but soft core nature. These edgy films pushed the bounds of censorship, while also remaining under the radar. They were very marketable Metzger became a successful distributor. Through the 60’s Radley produced and directing some of the most well known soft core erotic films of all time. These were high budgeted films, shot on 35mm and in foreign locations (particularly Europe) and with the hottest sexploitation stars of the day. Radley was an incredible success and each film was better than the next.
In the early 1970s New York City was changing, people were changing. Deep Throat, was released and porn became hip. Already an established and famed filmmaker Radley started to use an alias Henry Paris. As Paris he would go on to make some of the most famed adult classic films of all time. From 1974-1976 he made 5 films, all of them erotic gems. With a keen mix of witty and erotic screenplays, amazing soundtracks, the best of the New York porn actors, and a very talented crew. His third film, the Opening of Misty Beethoven, was theatrically released in 1976 and premiered at the World Theater in NYC, the apex of porno-chic filmmaking.
The script was an adult adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. Jamie Gillis was cast as the main character, Dr. Seymour Love, and Constance Money was his co-star, Misty Beethoven. They were supported by a cast of heavyweights including Gloria Leonard, Terri Hall, Ras Kean, Casey Donovan, Jaqueline Boudant, to name a few. The film went on to win 4 awards in 1976, including Best Director, Best Script, and Best Actor to Jamie Gillis. To this day, Misty Beethoven remains one of the most sought after adult classics of all time and it has had much success throughout the decades on home video.
In 2012,the Opening of Misty Beethoven, had undergone an extreme film restoration, that lasted almost an entire year. The man responsible for this project is Steven Morowitz, the head of Distribpix Inc.
In November 2012, Misty was finally released on new 2 DVD set and Blu-ray and instantly reclaimed its spot as the best classic adult film of all time. “The HD transfers are stunning, the director commentary is priceless and the extras are phenomenal,” boasted Morowitz. He continued, “It is really nice to have a project become a financial success, but it is even more amazing to see and hear the reactions from the die-hard fans and critics alike. I really enjoy that.”
Getting several nods from mainstream sites for “Best DVD of 2012,” the new Misty Beethoven is sure to please. “It will now be available for this first time in its Uncut and restored glory on Hot Movies.com, who is at that the top of the legitimate adult VOD market.
