Once I found out about such a girl, I had to talk to her. This girl is a business woman through and through, tough as nails and is definitely worth listening to. Paulie K: Coralyn Jewel, hello and how are you? You are quite the woman.
Coralyn Jewel: Hello Paulie K! Thanks for talking to me!
PK: My pleasure.
PK: What I would really like to know is your ice skating profession. Not many porn stars are professional ice skaters and not many ice skaters are professional porn stars.
CJ: I started ice skating when I was 3 years old. My family immigrated from South Africa. Got here and I guess my dad took me to the ice rink when I was three years old and my parents just kind of said that was it from there like I just wanted to skate skate skate. I started you know training and then when I was 15 years old I moved to the Lake Arrowhead Olympic Training Center by the Big Bear Mountain out here in California with the Michelle Quan. I trained up there and then I started to get involved in pair skating and I went to the national tryouts. I got a partner in Wisconsin so I just graduated high school and off I went to Wisconsin. I had a partner he was twice my age so I think I was 18 and he was like 38 and he dropped me. We contacted South Africa you know ’cause I was born there and they didn’t have a pair skating team and so we were going to be representing South Africa in the Olympics. My partner dropped me and kind of threw me and I broke my collarbone, I broke two ribs and I was off the ice for about six months. Lost my partner due to that and then went through a stage where I kept saying, you know, I’ll be better, I could do this. Tried to get another partner, moved to North Carolina with a partner but I was already taking 1000 milligrams of Ibuprofen four times a day to try to get through my training. We finally realized there was no way I was going to be able to do it, so my skating career came to an end when I was 19 in North Carolina. That’s where my whole story changes because my whole life goal was to go to the Olympics, compete, and then start an ice skating show and travel the world. So that whole thing was shattered. I ended up meeting a man in North Carolina, we got married and I got my college degree and in Theatrical Production. We moved to Sweden for four years and then I coached the Olympic team in Sweden. I had a child and then from there came back to California and decided to put ice skating behind me, and opened up a mobile fitness company for children. We still country and I was still in the fitness world but just not on ice. That’s why I wrote a book about how an immigrant from South Africa who was supposed to go to the Olympics end up being an adult performer, podcast host, international bestselling author, and everything else I do.
PK: Wow! This is a fascinating story and I’m so glad the book is a best seller. I don’t think you can get more unique than this, Coralyn.
CJ: Yes my life just doesn’t stop. I was at an EXXXOTICA last week, and my message is that only you can be proud of who you are, when you finally face the truth of who you are.
PK: I completely agree with that.
CJ: So if you’re a swinger? So what you’re a swinger. If you hide that, you are never fully 100% confident in yourself. If you can come out and say, “Hey look, I’m a swinger, so what” only then will people around you accept you. Curveballs were thrown at me and they have always lead to something else. Yes my skating career ended, but now I’m an author, a wedding planner, a motivational speaker, a swinger, a porn star, I have my own CBD lubricant – I mean things lead to other things.
PK: Were you scared to go into porn after ice skating?
CJ: What happened was I was running my mobile fitness company for kids in California. The housing market hit bottom and a lot of people lost their jobs and could longer afford their kids to sign up with our company. I think in one day we lost 8 daycare centers. So my husband came up to me and said we really need your income from your fitness company. He suggested that if that well ran dry, girls sell their underwear online. He left the next day to go to work and I jumped online and found out that they actually do. So I built a website and used Craigslist to advertise, and that led to custom videos, and that led to erotic modeling, to webcamming, and going on Sexy Jobs to take jobs directing porn since I had my theater degree. From there, at 35, people in the industry told me that I should start performing in front of the camera.
PK: Wow. This is unbelievable. I have no doubt that your book is an international best seller!
CJ: Initially I hid the whole porn thing from all of my family. Some friends knew, some friends didn’t. I was already running a successful swinger’s club at that time, and dancing at a strip club at that time. All that was hidden too. My 19 year old sister found my Instagram account. I pulled everything after that. I contacted LAX Models and said I can’t do it anymore. I thought at that time I would get out of the industry and become a wedding planner. Then I realized at 40 I am still running my life to make my Dad proud? I thought that was ridiculous, so I got back in, and now I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I can finally be me. No more hiding and it feels great.
PK: I have problem just getting out of bed in the morning. Where do you get all this energy and all this motivation to do and try all these things? Where does it come from?
CJ: My parents divorced when I was 6 and I watched Mom struggle, financially. I remember thinking I will never rely on a man to take care of me. I get motivation from all the positive reactions and responses from listeners, and members who tell me I made a difference in their life. After my seminar in Chicago recently a girl emailed me and said that after hearing me speak, she went home to her family that night and told them what she did for living. They need to accept me as their daughter with unconditional love. When you hear things like that, it inspires you and motivates you to no end.
PK: Wow this is just so much. So overwhelming. I don’t even know what to say to you.
CJ: It is a lot I know, I do a lot.
PK: I must ask this – if there was one thing to say to people – to help them be happy and successful, what would it be? Could you boil it down to one thing?
CJ: Be honest, comfortable and proud of who you are what you do. Stop the hiding.
PK: That is great advice, tough to do, but very good advice. Coralyn I know how so so so busy you are with all your businesses and I can not thank you enough for taking time with me today. I truly appreciate it.
