Founded in 2016, VRClubz normally sees approximately 2,000 users a day, but since the global pandemic, that number has surged to around 8,000.

“We’ve seen an enormous uptick in traffic,” says 42-year-old CEO Jimmy Hess, adding: “We are all urging people to stay at home right now so this is great way to stay safe and entertained.”

And all you need to get involved is a computer, a VR headset, and a login.

Speaking about what customers can expect, Hess described the impressive and immersive level of detail the company offers, saying:

“The experience starts when you drop into the street. You can look around and see the other businesses, which can also be experienced, as you walk up to the club you can hear the music from outside. Then you interact with the doorman and the hostess as you are led inside.”

The club is a high-tech blend of film and video game design and AI-driven video. Hess added:

“The aim was to make the experience as real as possible. The environment is generated digitally then we take real film, with real entertainers, and use a system of green screens with AI to link it up.

“The performs can actually interact with customers, make eye contact with them and react to their gestures.

“If the user goes up and throws money at the dancer then she’ll take her top off or go nude and she’ll respond to tips.”

Daniel Dilallo, who is the Creative Director at VRClubz, says that the company is “really pushing the envelope” with reaction-based filming. Dilallo said:

“The girls all follow you with their eyes and know when the user is close, they know when the user has interacted with them before, so if you are a regular they will remember you.

“With our new bartender system, we videotaped our bartenders and now the bartenders will recognize the users, with facial recognition software, and remember what drinks they like to order.”

Dilallo, 40, added that VRClubz is now planning to employ real people who have been furloughed from real-world clubs that have been forced to close during the lockdown. He said:

“Eventually we want to have real people acting as VR bartenders from their homes, servicing virtual drinks for real tips. We hope to have the same with security staff, managers and, hostesses etc.

“No one knows when this pandemic will end, so we’re teaming with brick and mortar strip clubs to help them through it.

“We want to be an extension of brick and mortar clubs, not to replace them. Right now they are suffering and they need an alternative revenue source and we can help with that.

“It takes the idea of a promotional website into a whole new interactive world. It’ll be exactly how online gaming works, people can communicate via text or with a mic in real-time.

“So if you walked up to the front desk you can ask: ‘How much does it cost to get into the club?’ And you’ll get an answer.

“Then people will be able to have conversations with the dancers and all the staff in the club.”

As extra incentive to stay home the club is currently offering free membership in all segments of the titillating experience – including the VIP section. Hess added:

“People need to stay home right now, so the more we can do to encourage that the better.

“I’ve been talking with the CEO of a major chain of gentleman’s clubs, he was very concerned about how he was going to protect the industry and all this staff. He was keen to team up with us immediately.

“This unfortunate situation has really thrust forward the need for us to learn how to interact and transact with each other in different ways.”
