I’ve waited long enough to write my AVN report. The expo was really good, the AVN Awards Show was great, and it was good to see everyone.
I stayed at the Hard rock hotel this year and found it to be very nice! Savannah Jane roomed with me this year. She brought her dog, Weefer, along who occasionally cock-blocked me by sleeping in the center of the bed.
As usual, I make the rounds and catch up with as many people as I can, and assist with my writers, Myles Shaffer and Rich Moreland, in getting the content they need to report on the various aspects of the show they cover. Myles covers the girls who feature dance and events, and Rich does some of the best interviews I’ve ever read! Pamela Peaks helps me behind the scenes with organizing and scheduling things.
Wednesday 1/23:
Morning of day one I dropped in on the Foxxx Modeling booth to see who was signing. There was Karter Foxx, Emory Pleezer, and Emma Hix – now with short hair. Passed Evan Stone and Katie Morgan and said hello, then to my surprise bumped into Paul and Tracy Allen who were talking with Katy Zvolerin from Adam & Eve! Paul and Tracy own nightmoves magazine and do the Nightmoves Awards, and Katy has been with Adam & Eve for as long as I can remember. Tracey said “Dirty Bob” Krotts was also in town and we made plans to meet up later for food.
I greeted Leya Falcon who is always in a couple of scenes that AVN sends me to vote on. Leya wrote a column a few years back called “Falcon’s Flight” about what it’s like for talent to break into the business. Talked with Kenzie Reeves who had some remarkable scenes this season. She’s proving to be a great actress! Back at the Foxxx Booth there was a new group working a shift; Gia Vendetti, Layla Love, Victoria Stefani, and Scarlett Mae – all looking absolutely fabulous!
Greg Lansky was gracious to invite me into is booth by sending a metal card invite with his screeners. The Blacked/Tushy/Vixen booth always represents the Adult Industry at it’s best. Lansky has a true class act!
Thursday 1/24:
I like hitting the Foxxx booth first, as you might have guessed. This morning I see EmoryPleezer, Scarlet Mae, Elle McRae, Karter Foxx, Emma Hix, and Tia Cyrus.
I was delighted to see Avi Love who played my daughter in a scene where she screws Seth Gamble on the pool table when I went out for chips. She is awesome talent and getting some good bookings!
Then I see Carmen Valentina who swore she had my dick in her mouth but you can never can tell about gangbangs, can you? By the way, Richelle Ryan still makes a brick shithouse look like a cardboard box! Saw Alexis Fawx and almost didn’t recognize her as a brunette, and Raven Bay is blonde now. I love Jasmine Jae’s barely-covered big round boobs.
Met up with Savannah who wanted to walk her dog. We started back to the room and saw Priya Rae and Crystal Rush who came along to our room with us. Crystal is from Saint Petersburg, Russia. I love European girls! And I love Priya!
I should mention there were still people wearing August Ames tribute t-shirts. I wrote a piece on Depression in the Industry and published it on the anniversary of her death. It’s linked in the box to the right.
I love walking past the long MyFreeCams.com table seeing all the talent working behind their screens. It gives you a perspective of where the Industry is headed.
Emma Hix looks good today in an outfit that barely qualifies as a top and skirt in red diamond glitz. I lust (I mean look) at Gia Vendetti and Hadley Haze again too, also stunners.
Girls from the Golden Age of porn were there too! I saw and talked with Serena who was there promoting her new book, and Patty Please later on who was looking for Serena. I was glad to direct Patty to where Serena’s booth was.
Jacklyn Taylor was at a booth with a full-size sex doll that looks exactly like her. I thought of a bunch of great script ideas for her on the spot and had a great time talking with her! Joselyn James looked great with long blonde hair (last time I saw her she had a buzz-cut!)
I’m always happy to see Daisy Cooper! She’s one of a kind and super sweet! Through the crowds I see a white beard – it’s Myles Shaffer talking to Cindy Starfall and Tabitha Stevens. Tabitha still looks great! I wish she lived on the left coast!
The White Party:
I love the White Party because it may be the only time I get to dance all year! (I know, I really should get out more!) Sat next to Emma Hix and across from Destiny LoveE who apparently knocked back a few and didn’t recognize me. Danced briefly and was tired from the day’s activity and retired to a warm bed with no dog this time. Weefer slept on the floor.
Saturday 1/26:
Savannah’s Las Vegas girlfriend, Nicole, came up to the room and joined us for some downtime today. Everyone needs to relax a little or the show will burn you out! Saw Jaylene Rio in the casino and Savannah whispered in my ear I may have a shot at her. I’ve had a secret crush on her for years!
Show Time! The AVN Awards:
After getting my AVN Awards Show tickets, I tried to get my red carpet pass evidently I should have registered previously. No carpet walk for me this year! I was disappointed but always cordial.
Then, the night of the show, Kevin, the new AINews photographer texts me while shooting the carpet that his camera’s battery is low. He resolved the problem by taking fewer pictures this year. I tried to get my two batteries to him but was unsuccessful reaching him amid the tight security surrounding the show. We’re gonna miss those pictures!
Getting around the Hard Rock at this time is brutal! The red carpet goes through the casino, is open to all talent, and is a great tradition to give recognition to each talent in the Industry no matter if they are nominated for an award or not. The ropes are up and the Hard Rock staff periodically lets people cross the area roped off for the talent. It’s crowded, especially at the ropes. Everyone wants to see their favorite pornstars walk “the gauntlet.”
A number of girls came up to me and asked where to go to walk the carpet. Either no one had told them where to go when they got their pass to walk the carpet, or they all forgot. Actually, it seems that credentialing the talent to walk the carpet had organizational problems.
I found the end of the carpet by asking several of the hotel security who eventually pointed me in the right direction and I brought the first girl who asked me through the far glass doors, outside around the corner of the hotel, where the staging area was. It was cold that night. The rest of the people who asked me got verbal instructions while I was trying to get batteries to Kevin.
My photographer and my interviewer flew back to Maryland right after the show so I didn’t get the pictures from the carpet until he mailed me a CD. It was worth the wait! Everyone looked fabulous! He said he only shot one-third of the pictures he normally would have shot so his battery would last him through the entire red carpet.
The AVN red carpet pictures are the most valuable pictures taken all year. They show the talent at their finest with the AVN backdrop behind them. The awards show was stupendous! It had great production value, was well organized, and had a nice flow. I suggest everyone attend each year especially if you are in the Industry.
I can’t help being polite and respectful to the people at AVN. They share the work of voting on the nominees to the Awards with me, which even though it’s a time-consuming and laborious task, I find an honor. I also appreciate getting credentials to the show and events for me and my crew. Thank you, AVN, for your professional treatment of AINews.
