ED Expo 2018

(CLEARWATER, FL) — Expo kicks off with a blast at the Opening Night ’80s Movie Party! ED Awards presentations, plus $250 cash for best Tom Cruise “Risky Business” impersonation and $250 for best ’80s movie costume!

“Every now and then say, ‘What the f***.’ It gives you freedom.” — Joel Goodson, “Risky Business,” 1983

It’s time to channel your inner Joel Goodson (aka Tom Cruise) at this year’s Opening Night ‘80s Movie Party (Monday, Aug 20), as we tap into the EXPO’s “Party Business” theme. Come dressed as Joel (you know, white button-down dress shirt, underwear and athletic socks) for our $250 Risky Business dance contest, or come decked out as your favorite ‘80s movie character for your shot at $250 and move to our DJ Jimmy Boucher’s radical grooves. Either way, you know you’ll have a totally awesome time at the EXPO’s official kick-off event!

Just as we have for the past few years, we’ll also be presenting ED’s Awards (eight, to be exact) during the Opening Night Party in order to create a more compact “main” Awards Show on Tuesday at The Joint Theater. Monday night’s ED Awards will include: International Club of the Year, International Showgirl of the Year, General Manager of the Year, Club Employee of the Year, DJ of the Year, Newcomer Entertainer of the Year, Adult Movie Entertainer of the Year and Miss ExoticDancer.com of the Year.

Special thanks to our Opening Night Party sponsors, including Monroe’s of Palm Beach, Club Control Systems, MAL Entertainment and Scandinavian Tobacco Group, who will be giving away free cigars on the patio at Vanity.

Expo Keynote Speaker Bob Brown will turn your staff into “sales superstars”!

His passion, humor and high-quality content presentations have inspired owners, executives, managers and front-line employees in over 20 countries over a 20-years span. He’s sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books “The Little Brown Book of Restaurant Success” and “The Big Brown Book of Managers’ Success,” while speaking at a countless number of national conventions and private business conferences. We’re thrilled to announce that atEXPO 2018, number-one-rated speaker Bob Brown will be delivering a special Keynote Address titled “Turn Your Staff Into Sales Superstars.”

“Bob Brown is a must see for this year’s EXPO,” says industry veteran Dean Reardon, Vice President of Operations for Rick’s Cabaret. “His knowledge and techniques on increasing sales for your venue is outstanding. Bob’s interaction with the audience and clear message is one of the best I have ever seen in my 28 years in our industry.”

Exactly what is ‘sexual harassment’ in a strip club? Are YOU in legal jeopardy ?Find out at Expo!

With the skyrocketing prevalence of sexual assault and harassment assertions – especially in the workplace, forcing countless resignations and terminations in the entertainment industry, government and throughout the business world — it’s no surprise that adult nightclubs, whose very existence is dependent on presenting sexual fantasy, are extremely vulnerable to such claims.

What can we do? How do we “make the mood,” for sexual fantasy for customers while maintaining businesslike relationships between club owners and managers and club workers and entertainers and avoid harassment and discrimination claims against clubs and club operators?

That is the extremely timely topic of the 2018 Gentlemen’s Club Expo Legal Panel. ED and EXPO are very pleased to present four excellent panelists—Attorneys Brad Shafer and Edi Thomas, EEOC-trained club operator Micheal Ocello and dancer-turned-manager-turned owner Karen Gay—each with considerable experience “in the trenches,” working with these issues. The panel will be moderated by ACE of Michigan’s Larry Kaplan.

How would YOU handle this situation?

NEW Expo Seminar: It’s not all bad on the “Dark Side”!

Many DJs consider their role to be part of a club’s management structure, especially if they are responsible for “running the rotation” of entertainers. But what happens when a DJ actually becomes a gentlemen’s club manager? What experiences can they bring from their time as a DJ to their new role as manager, and what lessons can they bring from their new role as a manager to assist their club’s DJs and entertainers?

At EXPO 2018, three veteran club DJs turned club managers—PANDA President Dane Hansen of Centerfolds Cabaret in Las Vegas, Jeb Jarrell of Deja Vu in Colorado Springs and Michael Cox of the Pony Club in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois—will talk about the challenges of that transition, and what they’ve learned along the way that can benefit today’s DJs and managers have a better and more effective working relationship.

This seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22, from 11 am – noon, and is sponsored by Bob Chiappardi of Concrete Marketing and StripJointsMusic.com
