Hey Steve,
Since I got in this industry I’ve always read your site AINews so even if we never had a chance to talk for too long I wanted to share my appreciation to you.
I typed this letter to share some of my thoughts on the last few years and the industry in general.
This industry relies on passionate people. The reviewers who treat adult films as art, volunteers who spend their time and energy organizing award shows for so little recognition and no money, journalists who spend countless hours defending the right of this industry to exist and who genuinely share their passion with the world. You do it for the love of this industry and for that I will eternally be thankful.
My first adult website Blacked was started out of frustration. As an adult film director I felt the industry and I were not offering the best quality and experience possible. I felt I wasn’t offering truly inspiring projects for performers to express their art. At least not on the level I grew up watching with Joe Damatto, Paul Thomas and Mario Salieri.
So, two years ago we started Blacked and then Tushy. We focused on delivering a superior quality of adult films and a wonderful customer experience. People thought we were crazy and that we would fail because no one wanted to “pay” for expensive quality adult films. Instead, we focused our studios on the touches so many fans were looking for: better quality movies, exciting visuals, and real customer service. And we built a very loyal following. Thanks to the help of so many adult industry insiders.
I am so proud that our unique cinematic films and brands have won every major adult awards, sixteen alone this year. It’s humbling. We also did something almost unimaginable in times of free porn and rampant piracy: The studios won the hearts and fierce loyalty of fans around the world. People love Blacked and Tushy!
Fans who bought memberships and DVDs were offered a product of quality and real customer service in a market that was two years ago completely demoralized. People emailed us saying they were glad they paid for their porn and they did not feel cheated by what we delivered them.
“Content” as they call it online is no longer something that must be cheap. Blacked & Tushy brought new competition, better quality and a focus on delivering the best adult films for fans and a beautiful experience for adult performers. Our innovative cinematic style, fashion covers and even marketing have made such an impact that our little company forced the big adult studios to step up their game to compete including producing better movies after years of focusing solely on the bottom line and ignoring fans.
DVDs where there was very little competition left a few years ago actually saw a boost in sales and now fans have more choices. Because of Blacked and Tushy the industry saw a rise in talent hires, talent rates and other brands finally had to consider their customers. We committed to create brands truly focused on fans and quality. We put in tremendous efforts and dedication to make it happen. In the age of piracy and challenging anti-adult laws we were able to create a successful business. Again thanks to you! But the real winners are the fans and that’s the way we wanted it.
Today, adult fans have more quality options. When Blacked and Tushy launched we were looked down upon and turned down by big distributors. Now all adult studios have to invest in better content to try and compete. That’s a testament to the entire team and the work we did.
The brands truly attracted fantastic people who refused to create cheap boring adult films. Without the belief of our team that we could create a successful studio in 2016 the adult industry might not be where it is today.
We have many exciting projects to deliver but the important thing is to make sure we keep our commitment to quality and I count on you who have given a lot to this industry to let us know if we deviate from this mission.
The power created by Blacked & Tushy should be used to create more value for fans and more ways for adult performers to make a great living and that’s what we did by creating our new project Vixen.com.
I could write for hours on the love I have for the adult industry but I also want to share with you some exciting news; Our brand new studio, VIXEN.com.
We created it the same way than the ones you love with wonderful quality and better value for fans. Oh, and incredibly beautiful sexy scenes. That too! It’s been an exciting year where my ambitious creativity and borderline-unhealthy level of perfectionism has guided me through this journey.
