A day on the set with Girlfriends Films’ Dan O’Connell reminds us that good sex-positive porn is out there for fans who appreciate talented women. On this occasion, the creative director has four actresses to pair up for the one hundred and twenty-third version of Girlfriends’ “Women Seeking Women” Series.
The first scene is Dani Daniels and Vanessa Veracruz, both adult veterans who specialize in girl/girl action. Vanessa plays a religious girl who’s giving in to her repressed sexual urges.
Before they get to the sex, Dan and his cameraman, Mike Towers, capture a praying Vanessa then shoot the phone call scene that gets the girls’ juices flowing. It’s part of the story line.
The tone of the sex scene is romantic. Dan instructs the aggressive Dani, “Be tender with her” while reminding Vanessa that resisting Dani is part of “this religious thing” that is corralling her desires while her “inner demons are pulling her into sex.”
Dani takes control of the Latina lass and the shoot is steamy without being rough and tumble.
A more blistering theme is reserved for the film’s second sex scene, a romp featuring newcomer Jorden Kennedy and two-year veteran Aidra Fox, a Milwaukee native. These girls are perfectly paired, using the time before their shoot to warm up each other on the veranda.
Their scene is a counterpoint to the romantic flavor of Dani and Vanessa and when Dan calls them in, Aidra is energized, declaring “can’t we just come in and have sex?”
Not quite yet.
Dan gives them some general instructions, but Jorden offers, “We know what you like” in way that tells him, don’t worry we’ve got this sex thing under control.
Aidra chimes in, “Let’s go, I’m ready.”
When the action starts both girls are beaming and loving the finger banging, spitting, and spanking that sparks hard-edged sex.
Time is set aside for the box cover. The girls pair up based on their scenes and various poses are explored. Dan asks the girls for input and Jorden later says the director appreciates performer opinion which makes a Girlfriends shoot fun.
“He’s outside the norm as far as taking suggestions,” she says. Dan often asks the girls to “put your heads together” and the results, the twenty-three year old believes, are much “more natural” than some other companies.
A question pops up while the girls are going through numerous poses. What to do with hands? Number one rule is keep them visible, but where should they be?
It’s time to experiment so a variety of positions are shot. A dominant Dani pulls Jorden’s hair while a submissive Vanessa kneels with her hands together in a prayerful position. This might end up as the cover shot, but until the editors have their say, we won’t know.
After everyone is paid, the subject of dinner comes up as journalist, director, and cameraman chat on the veranda. A destination for food and more conversation is decided upon and everyone heads out in the lingering daylight.
Some final thoughts on Dan O’Connell come to mind from the words of Dani Daniels earlier in the day.
“His sets are comfortable. He treats his girls great. He’s got a great attitude. He’s calm and about connection… real sex, real chemistry. I feel like my best scenes are from Girlfriends Films.”
No argument here.
