The News Rack: 2015 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo Part 1, Naked Swingers
On the way up to the AVN AEE I was planning to stop by Freedom Acres to check out the resort. Freedom Acres bills itself as “THE Resort, a clothing optional and nude only experience unlike any other.” I became aware of the fact that they were welcoming the Adult Industry to shoot there from the press release Tod Hunter sent out for them.

I regret leaving late but there were a number of girls who needed to get to scenes, get tested at Talent Testing Services, and needed rides to the airport. By the time I got out of town it was already dark, and since I wouldn’t have been able to see the resort at night, I sped off to the expo.
The next day I caught up with Tod who invited me along to meet with Jeff James who works at Freedom Acres. Jeff, Tod, and I talked for a good long while about Freedom Acres and how to get the word out about how it’s such a great place for the Industry to shoot. I understand Luc Wylder and Alexandra Silk shot a video there and it went quite well.
Jeff said a swinger’s group was taking over the Rumors Hotel across from the Hard Rock, and invited us over to observe later that evening.
I went over to Rumors later that night to check it out and found a lot of happy people having fun. Now, it IS hard for a single guy to chat up swingers who are there looking to meet up with their friends who are almost always couples, but I managed to talk to a few people and found that most of the people there already knew each other through the SLS, or SwingLifeStyle.com, website. SLS is linked in the box to the right. The people online there make connections and are in touch through the site. Jeff also told me more about Freedom Acres and some of the parties they throw.
When I got back to Southern California I made a point to get out to Freedom Acres Resort and see it for myself. I coordinated with Tod and brought along Tiki Pavelle, who occasionally writes for AINews. We were met by Russ Thomas, the owner of Freedom Acres and its affiliated swing club nearby. Russ had great enthusiasm and delighted in telling us all about the resort and the club. He answered all of our questions and gave us the royal treatment, a tour of the grounds and a personal tour of the club.
The resort is huge! I found a great RV lot with hookups that would be perfect for anything a shooter would want to bring on premises, and it can handle generators and whatever is necessary to shoot at night. There are cabins for private shoots, and a lot of friendly people who probably wouldn’t mind being extras in an adult movie. Of course, care must always be taken to protect those wanting anonymity.
There are two pools, the larger one with a jacuzzi close by connected to the pavilion where we had just missed a “foam party” the night before. Naked people groping around a room full of foam. I imagine that made a rather unique dance floor! There’s something different going on at the resort every week.
There’s a club house at the resort that’s not only a restaurant, but has a jacuzzi, a steam room, a dry sauna, a dance club, and a pool table.
A hiking trail up on the hill leads from the clothing optional small pool past a natural spring up the mountain, to the larger nude pool near the theater. Plenty of room here for RVs, tent camping, cabins to stay in, lots of day parking, and even tennis courts and a beach volleyball court. There’s also about 20 acres of undeveloped property to expand the resort in the future.
After a tour of the resort we went over to check out the swing club. It was already packed with people. Russ gave us a personal VIP tour as he would if we were new members of the club. As you walk in and look up over your shoulder you will see a bedroom lounge overlooking the bar and dance floor. A door to the right leads outside to a smoking room with tables, chairs, and a covered mattress, with pool tables in an adjoining room. Inside, the club boasts at least one stripper pole, DJs in the lounges, a body painter, and always has a full buffet. There’s also a full service bar, but patrons must bring their own alcohol.
Complimentary condoms are given out, as safe sex is required. Russ says, “You can have as many [condoms] as you can use.” Drinks aren’t allowed in the bedroom area. No gum either. Most rules there are just common sense and natural to comply with. The club has lockers for clothes and valuables (bring your own lock), showers, and towels. Bathrooms are the ladies-only ladies’ room, and in the men’s room ladies are welcome. It’s couples only in the bedroom area, unaccompanied men aren’t allowed. Each room there has its own light switch. The club respects mutual consent. To play you must be invited or ask permission to touch. They even have a glory hole! Ask Russ to tell you the story about the lost false teeth!
I liked the specialty dungeon room with the one-way mirror that you can see in but not out. Tiki was checking out BDSM equipment there observing that it was solid and secure. Another room was completely mirrored. The infinity room has walls and ceiling mirrors. Russ was taking us through a wonderful labyrinth of play areas!
Another room I especially liked was the voyeur area where a central bed was surrounded by beds all around it. It reminded me of being on stage! I’m told it’s good for couples who like single guys who are allowed here and can watch until they are invited to participate. There’s a drinking fountain in this room, so presumably there’s a lot going on here when the club is in full swing.
In the Blue Room no street clothes are allowed, just towels or less. Not only is the sex safe here but the fire department and health department permits are all in order and the club has many emergency exits. After the tour we all enjoyed the buffet, then we lost Tiki who had the car keys when she went out for a smoke. I wasn’t concerned though. Worse things could happen than being stranded at a swing club. The movie they had playing on some of the TVs in the buffet area was the one that Luc and Alexandra shot there. Nice touch!
The club is a swingers’ paradise of rooms and places designed to glean the most enjoyment possible from the spacious building. The club is located at 1775 Devore Road in San Bernardino. Free food and soft drinks are available all day long.
When Russ was done with his magnificent tour of the club, Tod, Tiki and I went back to the resort and had a good soak in the jacuzzi. We left our pile of clothes on a rock and, having forgotten sandals, I limped naked across the pebbles in the parking lot to the pool area and the jacuzzi. What a great way to end a day of research for a news article!
After a long time in the hot water and well after sunset we thought it best to get back to the real world. There were several couples around enjoying the clothing-free environment, but it was getting late (and cooling off — brrr!) and we had to leave just as the jacuzzi was filling up for playtime.
Anyone involved in the Swinging Lifestyle will find Freedom Acres Resort and the nearby swing club to be THE place to go. And for those wanting to shoot adult films, this is a paradise! Next time I go it won’t be for business. Well… maybe monkey business.
