Christa Speck

Christa Speck, 70, a model and actress, passed away March 22, 2013, of natural causes. She was born August 1, 1942, in Danzig, Germany and resided in Los Angeles. She was named Playboy Magazine’s Playmate of the Month in September 1961 and Playmate of the Year in 1962.

Christa was considered one of the most celebrated Playmates of her time. She was working as a bank secretary at Bank of America when she was discovered by Playboy. She was a Bunny in the Chicago club, lived in the Playboy Mansion and was featured in all of the magazine’s Sixties pictorials about life at Hef’s place: 1961’s Playmate Holiday House Party, 1963’s Playmate Pillow Fight and Bunnies and 1966’s the Playboy Mansion.

Christa set a fan-mail record for her day and was selected by Playboy editors and readers as one of their ten favorite Playmates from the magazine’s first decade. She is survived by her husband, television producer Marty Krofft (H.R.Pufnstuf) and their three daughters, Deanna Krofft Pope, Kristina Krofft Zander, Kendra Krofft Moreno and five grandchildren, Taylor Pope, Karson Pope, Griffin Pope, Georgia Zander, and Drake Zander.

The family said in a statement: “Mom had an uncanny ability to make everyone smile and touched so many people with her unique sense of humor. It’s rare to find a human being that holds no judgment and sees the good in everyone. That was our mom. We will miss her terribly” the memorial is pending.
