AVN Adult Entertainment Expo 2013
The original plan had been to drive to Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 15, and arrive early enough to pick up press credentials for the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo before checking into a hotel.
Unfortunately I had to make a detour to Bakersfield, California, for some family business before continuing on to Las Vegas. Needless-to-say, I didn’t make it to Las Vegas in time to pick up my press credentials; therefore, I had to get to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino early enough the next morning to pick up my credentials before the convention room doors opened at 11AM.
Let me say a little about the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.
I have not had the good fortune to be able to attend every adult industry convention in the world. However, I believe the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo may very well be the largest of them all. The four day event always has well over a hundred, maybe over two hundred, beautiful adult film stars, starlets, and website women in attendance, and the vast majority of them will be in booths meeting and greeting the fans, posing for photographs, and signing autographs. In addition to all of that, there will always be some stars that are there just roaming around and saying hello to the other industry people and the fans.
Also always in attendance will be a good number of industry agents, male adult film stars, and adult film directors.
Before I go any further, I wish to thank all of the people at AVN, especially the always very helpful Adella and Beverly, for allowing me to attend the convention as press for the last four Expos. I hope that I will be allowed to return year after year for so long as I am able to move under my own power.
The AVN Adult Entertainment Expo is a great and extremely fun event, and I recommend that anybody who might be able to do so should attend at least once in their life. As I heard one of the male talent individuals say one afternoon during the event, “I’ll try anything twice just in case I wasn’t sure I liked it the first time.” So if anybody can find a way to attend once, hopefully they will like it enough to attend again. (There are a lot of fans who pay to attend at least one day just about every year. I’ve even seen mainstream celebrities in attendance now and then over the years.)
AVN AEE: Wednesday, January 16
On the first day of the AVN convention, the people I saw on the convention floor that I knew or had at least met before were: Emily Addison, Anikka Albrite, Jessie Andrews, Joanna Angel, Julia Ann, Lisa Ann, Aiden Ashley, Lexi Belle, Nikki Benz, Tori Black, Christy Canyon, Maureen Chen, Dani Daniels, Dana DeArmond, Kelly Divine, Manuel Ferrera, publisher of Glamour Girl Magazine Rich Hansen, Max Hardcore, Presley Hart, Allie Haze, Nicki Hunter, Madison Ivy, Jesse Jane, BiBi Jones, Kayden Kross, Tory Lane, Francesca Le, Brooklyn Lee, Brandi Love, Lexi Love, Shy Love, Ginger Lynn, Phoenix Marie, Syren De Mer, Daejha Milan, Ed Powers, Chanel Preston, Kirsten Price, Missy Rhodes, Kristina Rose, Selena Rose, Brett Rossi, Heather Starlet, Stoya, Sunset Thomas, Sativa Verte, Taylor Vixen, and Adam Wood. (Christy Canyon and Ginger Lynn were there recording their Playboy Radio show.)
The people I met for the first time on this day were: Ava Addams, Aryana Augustine, Remy La Croix, Pocahontas Jones, Lea Lexis (Even though I saw Lea at last year’s AVN, and I took a photograph of her, I didn’t actually get around to officially meeting her), Christy Mack, Riley Reid, and Rachel Starr.
AVN AEE: Thursday, January 17
Returning to the convention floor for the second day, in addition to the many people I had seen the day before, the people whom I already knew or had at least met before that I saw on this day were: Britney Amber, Alexis Amore, James Bartholet, Tony Batman, Alektra Blue, Lily Cade, Alex Chance, Stormy Daniels, Misti Dawn, Sophie Dee, jessica drake, adult industry attorney Michael Fattorosi, Ashley Fires, Tara Lynn Foxx, the original Tommy Gunn, Nina Hartley, Erica Icon, Joslyn James, publicist at Ideal Image Models Isiah James IV, Sara Jay, Dyanna Lauren, Devon Lee, Kaylani Lei, Paige Little, Marcus London, Miles Long, Aailyah Love, Sheridan Love, Jynx Maze, Nina Mercedez, Gianna Michaels, Magdalene St. Michaels, MI Miyagi, Asphyxia Noir, Mr. Pete, Teagan Presley, Cindy Pucci, Raylene, male adult film star and co-owner of Ideal Image Models Tee Reel, Samantha Saint, adult film director John Stagliano, Elizabeth Starr, Christie Stevens, Taylor Stevens, Puma Swede, and Vicky Vette.
And the people I met for the first time on this day were: Aiden Ashley, Lilly Banks, Charlee Chase, Teal Conrad, Kylie DeVille, Farah Faye, Miss Genocide, Melody Jordan, Kleio, Akira Lane, Charisma Lane, Kennedy Leigh, Alexis Monroe, Nikki Phoenix, Lisa Pinelli, Jasmine Rain, Raven Rockette, Rikki Six, Selena Skye, Cindy Starfall, Tiffany Starr, Gia Steel, Aliana Summers, and Jennifer White. (I saw Nikki Seven, but before I could get up to her, she went on a break, and I never managed to catch up with her for the rest of the convention. However, if nothing goes wrong, I will meet her very soon, since she will be feature dancing in a club that is within a few miles of my house.)
AVN AEE: Friday, January 18
Once again returning to the convention floor, other than all of the people I had seen and met during the two previous days, the people I ran into that I already knew or had met before were: Eden Adams, Brandy Aniston, Jessica Bangkok, Julie Cash, Angelina Castro, Izzy Charms, Trinity St. Clair, Simone Danalustrous, Debi Diamond, Leya Falcon, Nicky Ferrari, Ana Foxxx, Ash Hollywood, Mya Luanna, Marie McCray, Minka, Natasha Nice, Tasha Reign, Lucky Starr, Natalia Starr and her real-life sister Natasha Starr, Misty Stone, Tracey Sweet, Tania Tapia, Alexis Texas, and Carmen Valentina. (While I distinctly remember seeing Carmen last year, I’m not certain that we ever got around to meeting.)
The people I met for the first time on this day were: Pamela Balian, Scarlet Banks, Samantha Bentley, Jennifer Best, Camron Dee, Danica Dillon, Chloe Foster, Gaia, Hope Howell, Kiera King, Alice March, Erin Marxxx, Allison Moore, male adult film star Rusty Nails, Jessica Nyx, Anabelle Raphael, Sally Sparrow, Luna Star, Aryana Storm, Claudia Valentine, Vanessa Veracruz, and Vicky Vixen.
Once the convention had ended for the day, I went out to the parking garage just to discover that there was a line of cars clear up to at least somewhere on the seventh level, and the line didn’t move for minutes at a time. Even when the line did move, it didn’t move for more than a couple of car lengths at the most.
So I turned around and walked across the street to the CVS Pharmacy to get hard copy prints made of a few photos I had taken during the day, and to buy a 16GB memory card for my camera to ensure that I didn’t run out of memory before everything was over for another year.
Once I had returned to the garage, there were two men directing traffic, so it only took a few minutes to leave the hotel and get under way.
After I was clear of the garage, I found a nearby Subway where I dined on a foot-long club sandwich and a Diet Coke. (What is it about Las Vegas that so few places offer Diet Pepsi?)
Legends of Erotica 2013
Now that I was free of the parking garage, and my stomach was full, I went to Showgirl Video to cover the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame Inductions.
During the evening, the master-of-ceremonies was the legendary Bill Margold and a fine job he did as always!
For the duration of the Legends event, the people in the audience were people such as Tony Batman, Anita Cannibal, Sunset Thomas and several other industry people as well as many of the best photographers in the industry including J. R. Reynolds, Ricky Rich and Brody Hall.
First to be inducted was Elizabeth Starr. Elizabeth was inducted by her husband the original Tommy Gunn. (Tommy was looking pretty fit for a guy that was recently run over by a semi-truck and who had a massive heart attack just a few days before.)
Next to be inducted was Ron Hightower. Ron was inducted by his friend Brian Sebastian. (Brian is a pretty big deal in the industry himself.)
Next up for induction was Bob Chinn. (Bob used to direct John C. Holmes in many of his films among other accomplishments.) Bill Margold inducted Bob.
There were two rather interesting surprises during the evening.
The first big surprise of the evening was when Bill Margold presented the Carnal Medal of Honor to J. R. Reynolds for all of his work that benefits the adult entertainment industry.
Now it came time for Alexandra Silk to be inducted by her husband Luc Wylder.
After Alexandra had been inducted, the second big surprise of the evening was when Bill Margold announced that Luc Wylder was to be inducted by Alexandra Silk. That was the first time ever that a husband and a wife inducted each other on the same night.
Bill worked very hard to keep J. R.’s Carnal Medal of Honor and Luc’s induction closely guarded secrets, and he was extremely successful in his efforts!
Finishing out the event was the lovely Rebecca Bardoux being inducted by Bill Margold.
After a group photo-op with enough flashes going off to practically light up the area for blocks around, the evening ended with some nice conversations, then everybody heading off to wherever they went next. (I made a beeline to my room and bed! [I was already getting exhausted before I arrived at Showgirls Video!])
AVN AEE: Saturday, January 19
Saturday morning, it was back to the Hard Rock for the last day of the convention.
The people that were known to me that I saw and spoke with for the first time on this day were: Vicki Chase, Linda Glam, Serena Marcus, Scarlett Monroe, and Taylor Wane.
The beautiful ladies that I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time ever were: Bliss Dulce, Monica Rise, Jessie Rogers, Selma Sins, and Lori Tayler.
Oddly enough, as I was leaving my hotel to return to the convention this particular morning, I found myself following a good-looking young woman with great-looking buns down the hallway and out into the parking lot. That young woman turned out to be Monica Rise who was met in the parking lot by Isiah James IV.
After speaking with Monica and Isiah for a couple of minutes, I went to my car, and we all three headed for the convention for the day.
AVN Awards Show Red Carpet 1013
After the convention had wrapped up Saturday afternoon, I went out to my car, changed the memory card in my camera, and sat down in my car and rested for ten to fifteen minutes.
After my short but much needed rest, I went back into the hotel to take a spot on the risers and photograph the industry people walking the AVN Awards Show Red Carpet. (Apparently I’m a glutton for torture. Oh well, anything for the cause.)
